Chapter 38

Two years later...

"Block it!" The sound of metal hitting against each other filled the whole room rapidly. "Here I come!" Yuu rushed forward and slash his weapon towards the young boy. The young boy blocked it once again. The training was intense as Yuu press harder, making the young boy kneeled on one of his legs.

Yuu grinned and released his press, "that's enough for today." He pulled the boy up. Mika came forward, "great job." Yuu complained, "I'm worn out, tommorow's your turn." He patted Mika on his shoulder.

"Brother!" Sakura burst open the door and rushed towards her brother. She grinned widely, "I've finally learnt what my power is!" Seiki smiled gently at his little sister, "great job." Sakura beamed and continued energetically, "Akane said I'm ready to learn a few basic spells!"

On the other end

"Focus..." Akane settled down in front of Hana who had her eyes shut. She took a deep breath, "I see myself, and a staff?" She said. Akane fold her arms, "anything else?" Hana shut them even tighter. "It's all black!" She opened her eyes and said in frustration.  Akane giggled. "That's good enough." Hana sighed, "will I really be a great guardian?" Akane patted her head, "take your time. I'm still here, aren't I?"

Hana sighed, "I don't want to always be protected." Akane smiled slightly, "you know... My teacher once said, impatience blinds you. Patience guides you. Take it easy." Hana sighed and nodded.

Akane passed her a present. "What's this?" She asked in confusion. Akane grinned, "your present. You can open it." Hana did as she was told. Inside was an ordinary wooden stick. Hana picked it up.

Nothing happened.

She looked back at Akane for answers. Akane smiled, "when the time comes, this will be your partner." Hana stared at the 'wooden stick' intensely. "Let's try it out." Akane suggested as she pulls out her staff.

Hana hold it tightly, "exó cast strike!" She chanted. Akane jumped to dodge the attack. "eta la glacier blast!" She countered. Hana cuts the air with her wooden stick and a shield was formed. Akane smirked, "vines grant life." Underground roots shoots up and tied Hana around tightly. Hana tried to break free, but to no avail. She clenched her stick even tighter, until it starts to glow.

The stick grew in length when the glow became brighter. The vines trapping Hana slowly retreat.

Hana was no longer restrained. She slowly opened her eyes and before her, was a long stick. There was a crystal ball attached to it. Inside of the ball was a mixed of flowers.

Hana stared at it, it looks exactly like the one she saw. Her future sight was a success. She looked at Akane, surprised while her guardian smiled gently at her.
