Chapter 11

"Are you afraid of me?" Akane asked as she looked at Hana with a bitter smile. Hana shook her head, "I'm just a little... shock and confuse. I'm a witch that's why I can feel people's emotions. You're a witch too, can you feel them?" Akane shook her head, "Different witch has their own special power." Hana looked at her, "What's yours then?" Akane smiled, "I'm a gatherer and protector. I can hear cries from children even if their far away and I'm in charge of locating and protecting potential witches which is what my mentor find similar about me and herself." Hana nodded, "Then... What am I?" Akane looked at her, "I'm not too sure, but from what I've seen, you're a detector, you can feel all dangers approaching."

Hana looked down and grabbed her shirt. "So... I'm not human... Is that why... My parents and Uncle don't want me?" She questioned as her tears started to fill the brim of her eyes. Akane pulled her into a hug. "No one is at fault, not them, not you. Nobody will hurt you from now on, I'll protect you. I promise." Hana reciprocated her hug and sobbed a little.

After a few moments of calming down, Hana fell asleep. Akane piggyback her as she walked her back to the house where her mentor's childhood friend stayed. "Teacher, is this how you feel when I cried too? So angry at how powerless you are and just wanting to protect her from now on?" She whispers as she looked up to the endless sky that is darkening. I think I'm beginning to understand what it means to be a guardian.

"Welcome back, you brought a little girl with you. Is she also..." A man came in. Akane nodded. "I found her abandoned by the park." The man nodded. "Hana would be so proud of you." He said, smiling gently. "Thanks for letting us stay here, it means a lot, Ryou." The man laughed, "Hana would crawl out of her grave to kill me if she knows I don't keep my promise." Akane giggled at the man's words as she carried little Hana to her bedroom.

Author's note: New character! Ryou. Childhood Friend of the deceased Hana. He is just an extra here but very important to Akane since he gave her a place to stay. Stay tune to the next episode!!
