A hidden survival

Chapter 31

Her surprise attack was countered with someone smacking the demon weapon away from her hands. "That's enough." Shinoa looked up at the owner of the voice. His voice so cold. Just like his blue eyes. Like ice. She frowned, "It's not over yet, she did not kill me." The vampire raised his sword and stated, "She doesn't have to do it, I'll do it for her." His eyes show no sign of mercy. Akane immediately grabbed hold of his hand, "Stop! Don't hurt her!"

Mika relaxes his sword and muttered in anger, "Why do you always protect those who want to hurt you?" Akane muttered under her breath, "Because they are innocent, it's not her fault to hate the kind who hurt her family. Plus, she's Yu's family." Mika sighed. He started to walk away, but was stopped when Akane ran towards Shinoa, "I'm sorry for your sister. I really am. Mahiru was a great person." Shinoa looked at her in disbelief. She blurted out, "How did you.." Akane replied, "She came to our orphanage before. She really loves you." Shinoa became speechless, so Akane continued, "I wish to change the world, for those young witches and those innocent humans. Now, also for the vampires."

Shinoa glanced at her determined eyes, she seems like an the innocent child, straightforward and  harmless. "I'll help you." She mumbled. Akane's face lit up. "Thank you!" She bowed and rushed back to Mika's side.

"You've changed too." Mika mumbled. She smiled and responded, "Change is the only constant." Mika said again, "There are things that never change too." Akane stopped and said, "I know... because you're still the kind Mika." Something warm slowly spread out in him. In this world, where everyone calls him a monster, saying he is a cold blooded creature, there was still someone who says he is kind.

He pulled her into a hug. Akane felt his tears and patted his back, "I'm sure Yuu feels the same. After all, we're a family." Mika did not respond but he doesn't need to. Akane knows he will never forget that. Mika pulls away, "How's your hand?" She smiled and answered, "I'll survive!" They continued to walk and Akane stated, "Thanks for protecting me just now." He answered, "You would have done the same." She giggled, "It feels just like 4 years ago. You were always there protecting our family. I'm glad I've met you and felt what it's like to have a family again."

Mika stopped and muttered, "I'm glad you choose to live on that night."

I am glad too, that I could survive to see the both of you here, with me once again.

Author's note: Mika reacts before Akane did! Sorry to disappoint those who want to see Akane in action. But don't worry... She'll definitely have lots of action scenes in the future. Just not now :p See ya soon!
