A hidden survival

Chapter 19

"Akane, where are we going?" Sakura asked. Akane tightens her grip on the girls and muttered a reply. "You'll see." Hana looked up at her, "Akane, are you alright?" Akane glanced at the little girl for a moment, before she gave a smile and nodded. "Don't worry girls, that place is safe." The girls followed her to a land with nothing but burnt houses. Akane tightens her fists clenched her teeth. Hana knew immediately where this was. "There's demons approaching." Hana eyes suddenly glowed red. Akane turned and stood in a defensive stance as she tried to see the approaching 'demons'.

However, she encountered a certain emerald green eye boy. "Akane?" he said as he moves further forward. A purple haired girl stops him, "Yu! Be careful!" Akane pulled the girls behind her, her eyes were starting to glow red. Shinoa moves forward, ready to attack. Akane demands, "Don't come any closer." The purple hair girl draws out her weapon and rushed forward. Akane shouted, "I said don't come any closer!" A light barrier was extended and pushed the girl backwards in a huge force. The girl falls back to the grass. Yu called, "Shinoa!" Akane stand firm on her ground. An arrow came forward and Akane chanted something softly. The arrow disappeared. However, there was another hidden one following behind. Akane turned and blocked the children out of harms way and was shot on the arm. Yu commanded. "Stop! Don't hurt her!" He said as he stood in front of Akane, arms stretched out. His friends looked at him, "What are you doing? We have the orders to eliminate them." Yu draws out his sword, "I don't give a damn about the mission. Stop hurting her."

The bunch eyed each other and stayed silent. "Akane!" Hana yelled. The whole bunch turned to see the girl who fell unconscious as the blood on her shoulders started to turn black.

"Akane... I'm sorry..." Yu's voice entered her, his voice filled with guilt. I never blamed you. She wanted to tell him that but no voice could come out. Then, she felt a pair of warm hands holding her and carrying her up. Followed by the sounds of footsteps. She had never felt this protected and safe for a very long time. Afterwards, she fell unconscious completely.

She had a dream. A dream of the children in the Hyakuya orphanage playing together, chatting together and eating together. A dream of what she had had four years ago but at that time, no one knew that this simple and fun life would vanish so easily in just one night.
