A hidden survival

Chapter 29

"The... Outside world?" Yuu repeated in shock. "You're imprisoned?" Mika asked. Akane stayed silent. No answer was her answer. The boys glanced at each other and sigh in guilt, they had to go through all hardships to survive, and they did not want Akane to have to go through the same. The once innocent and naive girl who they used to protect, has also gone through just as much as them. All for survival...

"Akane." Hana, Sakura and Seiki ran towards her. "Thank God you're safe." She grinned and rushed to reunite with her little companions. Yuri also did the same, she is especially clingy to Akane.

"A vampire." Hana said as her eyes glow red. Once again, it stopped when Akane held her hand. "Incredible!" Yuu laughed and Mika's eyes widened in shock. Hana grinned at Yuu and he reciprocated. "Let's go back." Yuu mentioned. All of them nodded and followed Yuu.

Hana pulled Mika, he lowered his body, she whispered into his ear, "Akane mentioned about you before. You are just as important friend as Yuu." Mika surprised, glanced up at Akane who was giggling at Yuu with the other children. He smiles, "She is too. As important as Yuu." Hana grin grew wider, "I feel a strong attachment that connects Akane with Yuu and Mika."

Mika patted her head, "What's your name?" She grinned, "Hana!" He smiled, "Thanks for taking care of Akane." Hana giggled, "Yuu said that too, but really, Akane is the one who saves us." With that she went and join in the group at the front. Mika glanced at the happy children, they were all innocent once, no one wished for them to be in this cruel world but they are.

"Mika!" Yuu and Akane called for him. Akane extended her hand, "Let's go." She commanded, in a gentle way. Somewhere in his heart was igniting, it was a warmth he had not felt for a very long time. The warmth of family. He takes the first step towards them, the grin and calling from both of his childhood friends give him the courage to do so. His courage was rewarded with Hana and Sakura pulling his hand to move forward. "Come on!" Hana cheered on.

It was as though they did not experience the cruel treatment from the villagers. Right now, just like 4 years ago, the three of them were surrounded by children who are full of energy. He reached for Akane and took her hand. Yuu 'strangled' Mika and laughed, "You're finally here with us!" Mika could feel hot tears rushed up, how long has it been since he once again felt the bliss of having a family. A home.

Author's note: Yay!! Mika joined the group, the three of them are finally together! But, is it really going to be peaceful though? Stay tuned!
