A hidden survival

Chapter 12

"Akane! Akane! Who's that good looking man?" Akane woke up to the vigorous shaking and opened her eyes at the sun's brightness. She yawned, "Hana? You're up early." Hana continued to pull and shake Akane out of bed. "Never mind me! Who's that guy?" Akane sat up, "You mean Ryou? He's our guardian." Hana whispered, "Does he know what we are?" Akane smiled and patted her head, "Yes, my energetic witch. I'm going to wash up, make sure to behave yourself okay?" Hana nodded and sat quietly on the bed as she waits for Akane to get ready.

"Morning." Ryou said as he saw the girls coming down. Akane smiled and greeted back. Hana just followed. "What's this little girl's name?" Ryou asked. "I'm Hana. What's yours Uncle?" Ryou eyes widened when he heard the name. He smiled and replied, "I'm Ryou. I'm only in my twenties. Please just call me by my name." Akane giggled at that as she settled down for breakfast.

"Are you going out again?" Ryou asked. Akane nodded. "The witch hunters are gathering students' help to look for witches, I need to find them before the witch hunters get to them." Ryou sighed, "Be careful." Akane nodded. "I will, can you take care of Hana while I'm gone? She can help around the restaurant if you'd like." The man said, "Sure. The customers will be happy to have a little waitress." Akane nodded and called for Hana. "Hana, I need to go out, you stay here and help Ryou with serving customers, can you do it?" Hana agreed, "My Uncle used to ask me to help with his restaurant. I can do it." Akane smiled and patted her head. "I'll be back soon." Hana hugged her, "Be careful, okay?" Akane nodded her head.

She exited the restaurant house and walked towards town.

"Citizens of Japan, we're the witch hunters, here to ask for your assistance in catching witches in this city. Witches are hidden among us, they are vicious, merciless and dangerous. For your safety, we must destroy them before they come for us. You'll receive a huge reward if you caught any of them. Please note that there are only females who can be witches. We thank you for your cooperation citizens of Japan." The bill board went black after playing a man in uniform speaking and a few others standing behind him.

Akane clenched her fist as she glared at the bill board. Is this a declaration of war?

Everyone started turning against each other, "Hey! You're not a witch are you?" She backed away slightly and rushed back to the restaurant. Only to stop when she heard cries of children. I can't leave them alone... She turned around and ran towards the voices. 

Little did she know, a few pairs of eyes were laying on her.
