A hidden survival

Chapter 4

Akane stayed completely still as the boy draws out his sword. He turned and came face to face with Akane. His eyes widened and seemed to want to say something. Akane had the same reaction, "I..." He cut her off, "Akane?" Within minutes, she felt his arms around her, warm and comforting. Yet she did not reciprocate his hug, she was too afraid to.

He released her and looked at her with a guilt but relieved expression. "I'm sorry, I left you there, I left everyone there..." Before Akane had a chance to speak, they heard, "Yu!", "Yuichoro." The boy replied, "Over here!"

Akane immediately stood up, realizing that he had someone else with him. She wanted to run, but was grabbed by Yu. "Wait! Akane. Where are you going?" She murmured, "I'm sorry..." As she snatched her hand back from him and turned to run away.

I'm sorry Yu, I can't trust anyone else other than Mika and you. She thought as she exited the building. She looked back and sighed. She was not ready yet. To face Yu. To trust any of his friends. With one last glance, she turned away from the boy who had a silly grin on his face with a few others of his age.

She trudged along the pathway, reflecting on what happened just now, she had been running since turning 15. It was not because she was weak but rather, she tried not to use her powers as much as possible. "Save me!" A plead came to Akane's ears, she turned to face the dark and endless trail that leads deeper inside the woods. It's a girl! Without further hesitation, she ran into the darkness.

There, she saw a little girl with a vampire. Reminded of her past, she paused, unable to move closer. As her trauma of being slashed by a vampire hit her hard. She stood completely frozen, losing her strength to step any closer. It was when the girl finally screamed did Akane snapped back to reality and chanted, "Lux Solis Obiectu." Forming a sunlight barrier, she ran towards the little girl and blocked the vampire. The vampire felt a burn and shifted backwards. They stood far away from each other as none of them dared to make another move.

Author's note: I keep writing "wooden wand", forgetting what is the thing witch use to do magic with called. Today I found out it's called staff!!! How stupid can I get... Sorry... For bad vocabulary... By the way, there was a reason why she ran when she knew it was a girl, you shall find out in the later chapter. Image belongs to its rightful owner!
