A hidden survival

Chapter 22

"Yu! You can't keep them here. You'll be in trouble." Shinoa reminded. Yu sighed, "She's not going anywhere." The rest of team slowly convinced him, "She's dangerous..." Yu shot a cold glance at his friends, "You don't know her." He moved pass his friends and stood at the door, "If anyone of you lay a finger on her, I'll consider it as a challenge against me." With that, he left the room. Standing outside of Akane's room, he heard laughter of the children.

"And then... The girl told him that we are a family. You know what he said? He told the girl to stay away from him. Isn't he mean?" Akane shared the story of her with the children. "But you ignore it and move closer to me didn't you?" Yu came in and continued the story. The girls turned and ran towards the boy, "Yu!" They called. Akane giggled, "They're so attached to you... You must have been nice to them while I'm unconscious." He moved to her bed and placed his hand on her forehead to check her temperature, "I'm likable."

Akane closes her eyes as she asked, "Yu, are you alright?" She took a closer look at him, he looked away, "What's your plan?" He changed the subject. She looked at the girls, "I need to protect them from the witch hunters." Yu nodded, "I'll help you." Akane looked up at him and smiled.

Hana voiced out, "But your friends won't like that." Akane and Yu looked at the girl, her eyes glowed red. Akane grabbed her hand, the girl's eye stopped glowing. "Yu... Did you fight with your friends?" Akane eyes him suspiciously. He protested, "They're the ones who are at fault." Akane sighed, "They are your friends aren't they? Did you fight because of us being here?" He gave in, "I'll apologise so don't worry so much." Hana bit her lips, "Did I say something wrong again?" Yu patted her head, "No way. You're physic power is incredible." 

Akane thought for a while, "I've been wondering... Where is this place?" Yu answered, "Our base." Akane had a switch of emotion immediately, "This place is the moon demon company's base?" He nodded, "What's wrong?" Akane was ready to get off her bed, "I can't be here..." Yu looked confused, "Why?" Akane held her thought before replying, "You know demons?" His eyes widened in shock, "How did you..." He was cut off. "That's the reason why. The village was burnt down because of the alliance of the demons and witch hunters," when Yu said nothing, Akane continued, "In other words, we are enemies." He clenched his fist, "No. This time round, I won't let you be alone."

Author's note: What is Yu planning to do? His friend and the company do not welcome witches, will he choose to betray his new family for his old one? Or will he just let Akane go alone after all?
