A hidden survival

Chapter 23

"Yu, don't worry, I have my girls with me." Akane assured. Yu only tightens his fist, "Who's going to protect you?" Akane thought for a long time, Ryou can't protect me anymore... "I can protect myself!" She finally said, her eyes filled with confidence and determination. Yu raised his voice, "Idiot!" The whole room was silenced immediately. Akane was taken aback, why is he mad?  She tried to lighten the atmosphere with a smile, "I promise I'll be fine." Lowering his head, he lowered his voiced too. "Then why were you injured?" She became speechless. What he said was true, if she cannot protect herself, she might not be able to protect the girls. "I have to. What other choice do I have?" 

Yu  held onto her hands, "I told you that I will help you! My friends will definitely help too, they'll understand." Akane looked at Hana who seemed to want to say something. "Hana, what is it?" She blurted out, "It's impossible! The purple hair girl hates witches, she wants them all dead, she won't agree to help..." They glanced at each other, "I'll still try." Yu said firmly. Akane held his hands, "I can't risk any of the girls' lives. You have to trust that I can protect myself and my girls." Yu looked at her coldly, "Fine. Only if you win me in a match." Akane clenched her fist, "Alright." 

 Yu took out his sword while Akane took out her staff. "Asumaru, I want to protect my family. Help me." He whispered. Akane chanted her magic. Fire shoots out of her staff. Yu raises his sword, and cut through it, smirking, he jumped into the air and slashes towards Akane. She chanted again. The ice shoots directly at Yu as he stab onto the ice and pushed himself away, landing right beside Akane. He raises his sword to her neck, "You lost." He said calmly. Akane disappeared. "What?" Yu lets out. Akane was at the other side, "That's a fake." Yu smirked, "That's interesting. But I won't lose." He ran towards her, he brought his sword forward. Yu's surrounding started to have crackles and small explosions. There was fog, blocking Akane's view. She chanted again for the fog to clear. When the fog cleared, Yu was no where to be found. Akane shifts her gaze around, he was gone. How is it possible?

She felt a cold metal by her neck, "Give up." a voice said. She frowned and shifts, giving a back kick. Yu dodged it and pulled her arms into a hug, "Please stop." He said. Through his cracking voice, Akane could hear his heart shatter into pieces. Akane's heart ached, she released her staff. "Alright, I'm sorry for being stubborn."
