Zero's POV
We walked on grumpily, covered in the thick slime. I needed a shower. Desperately.
"Can't we just like...Plead with someone to give us shelter or something?" I asked Luanna.
She shot me an amused look. "Are you willing to plead? Because I'm not."
I sighed. "But you're the girl! They'll soften up..." I trailed off.
"Yeah, as soon as they see us, three children on their doorstep covered in green slime, two of which have wings, they'll grin and beg us to come in!" Luanna said sarcastically.
I turned to her. "Why are you always sarcastic?"
"Why do you demand things all the time?"
"Why do you-"
"OH SHUT UP!" Alex roared, "YOU BUNCH OF SHUSHNUBBING TURTLEDOVES!"
We both stared at him, our jaws open. "What?!" Luanna hissed, her eyes darkening.
"You heard me!" Alex yelled.
"We're not- Gosh, Alex!"
I felt myself flush crimson. "Yeah, she's right," I mumbled.
They both turned to stare at me. "What's with the tone, shusnub?"
I flushed even more, and kicked the ground. "Nothing, just embarrassed by the assumption," I mumbled.
Luanna narrowed her eyes. "You have a crush on me, twirp?"
"No!" I lied. Wait, what, lied?! God, I'm such on oaf...
"You're lying," Alex said quietly, triumph in his voice.
I growled, and backed away from them. "I-I'm not! Okay?!"
Luanna frowned. "It's okay, shushnub, if you say so."
I exploded. "WILL YOU PLEASE STOP CALLING ME THAT?!"
"Zero, calm down!"
"What do you mean, calm down?! I am calm! Just because you had to waltz into my life with your stupid fluffy wings and turn my life upside down and then made me like you-"
"So you do like me?" she demanded, looking horrified.
"You want the truth?! Hell yes, I like you! Ugh, damn this!" I growled, storming away.
"Zero, come back!" Alex called after me.
I ignored them, and trudged on. Not like I cared.
Right?
I stopped, and turned around. Two small figures were frozen, far away from me. I swallowed as I thought of Luanna's face, and smile, and her...Rather strange vocabulary...
I turned away again.
