Zero's POV
My stomach snarled wildly when I woke up, at what must've been three in the morning. I yawned and walked towards the fridge. It might be the flying that'd made me this hungry, but damn, I was starving! Secretly, I hoped I was in a growing phase. I didn't want to remain Luanna's height forever.
"What are you doing?"
I yelped in panic and jumped up. "Who-"
"Relax, it's just me," Alex growled.
"Oh. What are you doing here?" I muttered, opening the fridge, and grabbing something- I wasn't entirely sure what. I just ate it.
Alex watched me. "You kissed her."
I froze. "Uhh- What?"
"You kissed Luanna."
I continued chewing slowly. "Yes."
"She's my sister."
"...Continue."
"So, maybe you shouldn't use her."
I glanced at him. "I'd never use Luanna."
"Don't say those-"
I said the words anyway. "I love her."
Alex was quiet for a moment, but then snorted. I huffed, irritated. "I mean it. Just leave us alone!"
The boy threw me a glare, but went back up the stairs. I growled, and went to my own room too, ignoring the stench as I dove on my bed, and fell asleep again immedietly.
Alex' POV
I woke up before anyone else that morning, and walked out. The day was bright already, but still moist from the night's lips. I sighed, and glanced back at the house. I heard a shoving of curtains, and Luanna looked at me, her eyes narrowed. "I'll be back," I mouthed, not waiting for her nod, but quickening my pace. She'd be fine, with that stupid, stupid Zero. I couldn't even call him a human anymore. Hmpf.
Soon enough, I was in the village. It was still pretty silent, except for a few children playing outside, and a girl watching over them. There was something familiar about her, and I took another look.
No way. This wasn't happening.
I took a step back. Emma.
Her head turned my way sharply, and I realized I'd said her name out loud. Her eyes widened, and she took a step back, like me. Emma threw a nervous glance around her, and then ran towards me, before I could flee.
"You. Johnny, or Alex, or whatever your name is," she breathed.
I paused. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
She grabbed my arm as I turned away. "Yes you do."
There was something desperate in her tone, and as I turned back to face her, her cheeks were flushed. "What's your name?"
"Alex."
"For real?"
"Yes. What do you want?"
Her hand loosened its grip slightly, and she slumped, her freckled face disappointed. "I want the truth."
