Alex' POV

I glanced back at Emma one last time, but I knew I had to let her go. Her eyes crossed mine, and in that moment, I knew she knew. I expected her to scream, or cry out for help, but instead of that, she smiled, and blew me a kiss, like she knew I'd helped her.

I flushed, and turned away, running swiftly after Luanna and Zero.

Zero's POV

We ran as fast as we could, still covered in green slimy stuff slightly. So gross.

I held Luanna's hand again, and despite the whole ridiculous situation, I was happy. As long as she was with me.

How we'd ended up together was a mystery, even to me. I guess opposites attract.

We finally caught up, and my mother wrinkled her nose at me. "What did you three do?" she exclaimed.

We shared a glance. "Nothing, someone just messed gross food over us," I lied.

I gulped as I saw the house. "This is our house?"

My father grinned. "I got a good job," he reminded me.

I stared up at the house again. It was big, and painted a creamy white. Flowers were everywhere, and it looked as if from a fairytale. It has enormous windows, and I sighed. It was perfect.

Luanna looked just as awestruck next to me, and I grinned at her. "What do you think?"

"Amazing!" she whispered, her eyes wide.

Alex was eyeing it too, but seemed a bit lonely. I took a deep breath, and winked at Luanna. "I'll be right back by your side, okay?"

She rolled her eyes with an "I-can-manage" look, and I went over to Alex. "You okay?" I asked.

"Yeah," he mumbled.

I gave him a hesitant smile. "Did you like her?"

He started. "Who?"

"Emma. Did you like her?"

Alex shrugged. "She was nice, but I didn't really know her."

I scraped my throat awkwardly. "Don't you ever feel lonely?"

The boy's expression saddened, but he shrugged again.

"One day, you'll find a nice girl," I promised him, slapping his shoulder. Alex rolled his eyes, and walked away, kicking a loose pebble.

I turned back to Luanna, who came towards me and hugged me. "You tried," she murmered.

I breathed in her scent. "Yeah. Ready to go see your room?"

She pecked my cheek, and I flushed. "Sure," she chuckled.
