Alex' POV

"Wake up."

I groaned, and shut my eyes more tightly.

"Shushnub. Wake up!"

"Go away, Lu," I moaned, burying my face in my pillow. She shook me.

"Piper is a Dragunda."

I shot up and nearly fell out of my bed. "WHAT?!"

Luanna gave me a calm look. "Don't worry, it's all good. They're going to help us. It looks like you've finally found someone useful instead of dangerous."

I glared at my sister. "Lu. I'm not going to use Piper. She's just a friend I made."

"I said nothing about you using her...Just maybe being a little friendly to her, we'll need their help. Got it, jerkmuffin?"

I nodded, and crawled back into my bed. "Goodnight," I growled.

"Night, brother."

Zero's POV

The next day was sunny. I wasn't looking forward to going to school...At all. I dragged myself out of bed, slowly pulled some clothes on (Try doing that while keeping your wings tucked in...) and then nearly crawled down the stairs.

Luanna raised her eyebrows as she saw me. "What's up, shushnub?"

I growled something incoherent, and shoved my mother's omelet into my mouth, rising it after with milk. Luanna wrinkled her nose. "Ew."

I glanced at her. "Not really."

"...Yes, really."

I frowned, and glanced around. No one was there.

"Lu, do you even like me?"

"Of course I do, shushnub."

I approached her, and took the seat next to her. "Luanna. I'm serious. Do you like me? As in like like?"

"You're one with wings now, aren't you?"

I folded my arms. "You're avoiding my question."

She got up and put her plate on the counter, ignoring me. I slumped, because no answer is an answer.

Luanna didn't love me.

In School

I was cautious as I roamed the hallway without Luanna by my side. I was good in blending in...Or I had been, until Luanna's cootie stick action.

"You. Zero boy," a heavy voice growled. I stiffened, and turned around. The guy Luanna had "dated" was standing in front of me, his arms folded. I noticed how tall he was.

Dang.

"Hey, shushnub. If you don't mind, I ought to get-"

Before I could finish my sentence, he'd grabbed my by my shirt. I struggled, and several students stopped to laugh at me. I glared at him. "Let me go!"

He just chortled, and I balled my fists. I didn't know what I'd done until I was on the ground, and the guy was rubbing his jaw.

I'd punched him.

Luanna came wheeling around the corner, and I scrambled up. The crowd backed away at the sight of her. "What did you do?"

"Thanks for asking, I'm great," I said sarcastically.

She grabbed my hand and dragged me away, her eyes shooting daggers at the tall guy. I'd have felt smug if she hadn't been throwing glares at me as well.

Something told me I was in for a suprise.
