Zero's POV

Okay. Now I was quite nervous. I wanted Alex to get better, even if that meant sacrificing myself, but I couldn't stop wondering what would happen to me. Would the old wounds come back? Would I die slowly, or just turn into dust?

Stop thinking about it, Zero.

The other, insane part of me (the same part that'd been the one to start liking Luanna) was happy, because of the way Luanna had stuck up for me. And the part where she'd said I was hers only...I could've sworn she was jealous.

Haha, a jealous Luanna. I nearly starting laughing at the thought, but another part of me felt smug at the possibility. If I managed to survive, I might just be extra nice to Myhrr, to see what Luanna would do.

The wind whipped past my face, and my behind started to hurt. I just wanted Daisy to hurry up.

Piper's POV

I clung to Daisy's neck, directing gazes at Alex every few seconds. He was getting paler, and I wasn't sure if Luanna's proclaimed miracle potion was going to help. "Are we nearly there yet?" I asked Daisy.

Nearly there.

I nodded. "We're almost there!" I yelled at the others. Myhrr directed a glare at me, but I ignored her and bit my lip as Zero's house came into sight. I really hoped the neighbors wouldn't see this.

The dragon landed in the garden with a loud thud, and Luanna didn't waste any time. She grabbed her twin and dragged him to the house, followed by a nervous Zero and Myhrr.

I took deep breaths, and Daisy shrunk again. "Do you think he's going to be okay?"

She made a soft noise, and I wiped at my eyes. "That's a no, isn't it?"

The same noise leaves her nostrils, and I sighed. "I'm going inside. Be a good girl, Daisy."

I ran inside as fast as I could, ignoring Zero's parents' suprised faces, up to Alex' room, where the stash was probably hidden.

Luanna was throwing things around in panic. "Where is it? Alex, where did you hide it?"

He didn't respond, and Luanna panicked even more. "Zero, help me! Myhrr, look at the roof to see if he hid it there!"

While everyone was busy searching, I stared at Alex, and then sat down next to him. "It's going to be okay," I told him, even though I knew he probably couldn't hear me, "Luanna is taking care of it. They'll find it."
