Zero's POV

Luanna's father didn't look even remotely frightened. He raised his eyebrow at Luanna. "You really think I'd let you come that far, daughter?"

She clenched her fists. "Don't call me that."

"I see your brother is here with you too. You grew, Alex- and who is that boy looking like a coward next to you, little Luanna? I haven't seen him before."

Luanna lifted her chin proudly. "None of your business."

"Hmm. I see. And what about the girl with you, Alex? Haha, don't tell me! I can see it! A dragunda. And apparently fond of you, I see. How low my children have sunk."

"Shut up!" Piper yelled, storming forward. Luanna and Alex' father merely lifted his hand, and it was as if some invisible force stopped her. Piper's body jerked for a moment, and then she fell to the ground.

"There," he sighed, stiffling a yawn. "Get out of here, kiddies."

"P-Piper," Alex stuttered, looking at the girl's body. I stared at her too, stunned.

"D-did you kill h-her?" I managed to stammer. The man gives me an amused look. "Possibly. Truly, what are you?"

"He's mine, stay away from him!" Luanna snarled.

"Shush, daughter. Get out of here, before I take more violent measures!" he threatened, only to be distracted by Alex, who'd ran towards Piper's body, and was now checking her pulse.

"Out!" he said, irritated. "Before I hurt one of you!"

Luanna's response was to grab a bottle, and hurl it at her father. He blocked it easily, and seemed slightly amused again. "A little spirit, Luanna!"

"Don't say her name!" I yelled, grabbing the cootie stick and sprinting forward. He allowed me to whack him over the head with it a couple of times, and then he made a movement with his hand that sent me flying backwards, and made my hair singe.

"No one beats Zero up except me!" Luanna shrieked, launching herself at her father and scratching his face open. He threw her off, and she hit him, glancing around for a weapon. "I swear I'm going to kill you in the most painful way possible!" she snarled.

My hand inched its way towards the backpack, and took the dagger out of it.
