Zero's POV

So, basically, all the information I'd gotten was that the girl with wings in my house -or well, not mine, but I'm sure you get the point- wanted to be left alone because she was afraid of getting hurt and that se was a nice person- but didn't want me or her to get hurt all the same.

I got the vague suspicion this girl was capable of murdering me if I tried to get too intimate for her taste.

I sighed.

Three weeks later

Luanna sat next to me in the car, clucking her tongue in irritation. I shot her a look, but then backed away as she threw me a very frightening one back. I could swear I saw little flames dancing in her eyes.

My dad started the car, and I glanced back at the house I'd grown up in, feeling a slight emotion stir in my chest. Goodbye, I thought, gritting my teeth and looking away. I noticed that my mother had tears on her face, but she wiped them away quickly.

Alex gave me a slight pat on the shoulder. "It'll be okay, you'll get used to it all soon enough," he mumbled.

I shrugged. "Whatever," I muttered, pretending not to care.

Luanna scoffed. "Please, don't even try to pretend you don't care," she sneered, though making sure to keep her voice low so my parents wouldn't hear.

I winced, and Alex shot her a glare. "Shut it, Lu!" he hissed.

Lu? What a nickname, I couldn't help thinking.

Luanna shot me an even dirtier look, as if she'd heard my thoughts. I mustered a bright, cheery smile, and she rolled her eyes.

Something is really, really wrong with this girl.

"We're here!" my mother called out, pretending to be happy about it.

I just pulled a face, and got out of the car after Luanna.

I groaned when I saw the house. It was even smaller than our other one, and looked cheap and cold.

I heaved my bag out of our old truck, and walked up to the house. Luanna stopped next to me, and I met her gaze. She didn't look quite happy either, but then again she never did. It was hard not to stare at her wings, and I was glad the house stood alone. Alex flapped his wings, and I turned red. He chuckled.

Bunch of nuggets.
