Zero's POV
Luanna looked shocked, and I struggled as the fist tightened around me, nearly making me pop. "Luanna!" I squeeked.
She groaned. "Zero."
I struggled again, and the demon grunted, ramming me against the wall. I winced. "Luanna, maybe you should run-"
She didn't even bother listening, and stormed forward, hurling the knife into the demon's foot. It roared in anger, and was about to smash me against the wall again when she climbed up, and stabbed it in the arm holding me. It dropped me, and I fell to the ground with a huff. A sharp pain shot through my back, and I found it hard to move. Luanna cursed as the demon raised its foot to crush me, but she couldn't stop it, and pain filled me, before everything turned black.

"Zero. Wake up."
My eyes fluttered. "Lu-Luanna?" I croaked.
"Yes, twirp. Wake up, okay?"
The tone she used made my eyes open, and I saw the tears running down her face. "What happened? Why-w-why are you crying?" I moaned.
Luanna burst out into sobs, and I glanced around the room. My stomach hurt, and I tried to sit up, but couldn't. "You-" she sniffed.
"Tell me," I whispered, "tell me, Luanna."
"He crushed your spine," she said, wiping at her eyes, "and you're bleeding. I-I-I'm scared," she admitted, tears flooding down her face. I noticed the green stuff in her hair, and felt relieved to know the demon was dead.
"I can't walk anymore?" I asked her.
Luanna nodded. "I'm so sorry," she whispered.
Right there and then, I saw the look in her eyes, and I knew. "I'm dying."
"Yes."
She took my hand. "I love you," I told her.
Luanna blinked, and wrapped her arms tightly around me, silent.
"L-Luanna. I really do. I really like you."
She gave me a sweet kiss, and I started to feel light. Everything seemed blurry, and strange to me.
Luanna noticed, and a panicked look dawned on her face. "Zero, don't leave me, don't you dare go!" she ordered.
She gripped my hand more tightly, and then said three words that changed my life.
"I love you."
Right there and then, a gold light flooded over me, and I knew either that everything was going to be okay, or that this was the end of life as I knew it.
