Zero's POV

Despite being quite sure Luanna was a damned maniac, I automatically shot forward and caught her before she hit the ground. My mother screamed at what'd happened, and Alex was sobbing next to Evangeline.

The man was on the ground, obviously dead. His eyes were wide open, and I shivered, directing my gaze at Luanna instead. She was pale, and her eyes were closed. I felt her wings press against my ribs.

I hesitated, and then shook her softly, stroking the hair out of her face. "Luanna. Wake up," I whispered.

Nothing happened, of course, and that's when dad came in, immedietly screaming in fright at the scene.

My mother sobbed, and ran to my father's side, grabbing his cell phone.

I knew which number she'd call.

.........................................................................................................................................

I could hear the sirens approaching, and I bit my lip, glancing at Luanna again. Alex was still sniffing softly, and stroking Evangeline's hair. I guessed those two had been together, before whatever had happened happened.

Luanna moaned, and got up carefully, and for once, not throwing me a glare.

"Is she dead?" she asked her brother.

Alex nodded, and wiped at his face. "I thought-" he said hoarsely.

Luanna sighed, and gripped her head. "It's okay, I know you liked her, sorry about this," she mumbled.

My mother and father were frozen in the doorway. "What-" my father managed to choke out.

I shook my head at them. "He was dangerous," Luanna told my parents, in a tone as if stabbing a man was normal for her.

"But- you-" my mother stammered.

"Yeah," Luanna muttered, "he used to abuse the two of us, it was only a matter of time before he found us, and tried to take us back. I wasn't just going to stand and watch."

Two strong feelings fought in my chest, one telling me that Luanna had done the right thing, that I should protect her, because she was my friend, but the other yelled that she'd just killed two persons in front of me.

"What about- the- that- t-g-g-girl?!" my mother stuttered.

"She was a mere clone," Luanna said tiredly, apparently too exhausted to avoid the questions.

I stroke her hair. She's kinda pretty, one voice whispered in my mind.

Shut the Hell up, the other snapped.

That'd be the Luanna voice in me...

No, that's you! What are you, masochistic or something? the other voice yelled at me.

I continued stroking Luanna's hair. She is pretty, I thought.

Luanna finally seemed aware of me, and with a disgusted face, she pushed me away.

I nearly laughed, until I saw the two dead bodies again, and heard the police car pull up in front of the house.

Oh boy, we are in trouble...
