LXIV

//Two became three//

After giving birth Alison had gotten a couple of hours of sleep before waking up to feed the baby who had lached on really well, which Alison was previously worried about.

As she slept, Harold held the baby. He was so full of love and joy that they couldn't believe that he was allowed to be this happy despite all the bad things he had done and will do in the future.

His son was so small in his arms and so beautiful. He was standing up looking out the window with a smile.

"You know, you have such an amazing mother. Many people wouldn't have survived what she's gone through but she has. And seening her going through hours of pain just reminded me of her strength" Harold said looking back at Alison who was sound asleep.

"Speaking of hours, your grounded into further notice for putting your mother through so much pain for such a long time" he said looking back down at the baby with a playful smile.

"Anyway, I just want you to know just how magnificent your mom is. Not just because of what she's been through but because she's a good person that makes me be the best I can be. And I know that she'll do the same thing for you and make sure you grow to be as strong as her. I know for a fact that she'll keep the both of us going in the correct direction", he continued.

"I also want to take the time to say thank you. There were many times during your mom's pregnancy that we throught we were going to lose you. But but you held on for us. You've only just been born and I'm so proud to call you my son. My son who didn't give up"

"I can't pretend and say that I'll be the best father. There will be times where I will seem harsh, unfair, cruel and there will be times that we will fight and you'll dislike me. But know that all I do is because I love you and want the best for you. That might not always seem the case but it's true and I hope you will be able to forgive me when those times come"

"I don't know how to be a parent. I don't know what the right methods are dispite getting advice from my family. The only thing I know for sure is that don't deserve you. You or your mom. You deserve a father who is a good man and that's not me; but I'll try and make it up to you for that and make you happy" Harold slowly put the sleeping baby on the cot next to Alison's bed, his voice getting softer in order not to disturb Alison of the baby.

"I love you" was the last thing he said before kissing his baby's forehead.

He sat down and the chair next to the cot and closed his eyes, sleeping like the rest of his family.

A couple of hours later, in the afternoon, after both Alison and Harold had showered, they called their loved ones to allow them to visit. Harold was concerned at first as he wanted Alison to rest more after the long birth but Alison told him that she was okay and that she would rest later. Not wanting to upset Alison, he called his family and Blaine to come visit first.

First came Ferro and his two daughters who were fascinated by the small baby. They were aided in holding the baby and insisted on playing with their new cousin when he was older. Then Ferro held the baby and Alison could tell that despite his happiness to finally hold his nephew, she was deeply hurt.

Then came Harold's parents and siblings - in which Louise burst out crying when she saw Alison holding the baby. The twins came in screaming and were immediately scolded by the mother for the noise and were denied a chance to hold the baby due to waking up and making him cry.
