QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Are the main characters in this book real people? Yes - but their names have been changed. ♥

Did Jed really die this way? Yes - exactly as told. He was not Charlie's brother but a kid in the neighbourhood. ♥

Did Kerry fall pregnant and marry Mathew? Yes - though this characterization of Mathew is fictional. He was the polar opposite. The marriage did not end well. Kerry is the strongest woman I know and has since remarried to a wonderful man. ♥ If I told her real story you would not believe it. ♥

Did Jake get his shit together and live happily ever after? No - unless time in prison can be considered happily ever after.

Did Charlie's mum have her happily ever after? - Fifty/fifty - she and Bernie loved each other deeply but she died relatively young of cancer. ♥

Did Charlie's father improve as a person? - I like to think so. He had a very hard upbringing. A lot of his childhood was spent in Foster care and an orphanage. Life after Janice's death was hard. There after his sole purpose of living was to die. ♥

Did Katie grow up as portrayed? - Yes.

Was Katie really such a good friend? - Yes. She and Charlie are still the very best of friends. ♥

Did Katie marry Chris? - No. She fell pregnant at sixteen, had lots of shitty relationships then found Mister Right. ♥

Did Charlie and Keean really get together? - No. Charlie only ever spoke five words to Keean the whole time they were at school together. Her crush was real. ♥♥♥

Was Keean really this good looking, smart and athletic? - Yes ♥

Did Keean really go to a Juvenile Detention Centre? - No. He was too smart for that. ♥

What happened to Keean? - Sadly Keean had a car accident aged twenty which resulted in him being paraplegic. I am told he took his own life two years later. ♥♥♥♥

Since writing this I have discovered that Keean is in fact alive and runs a very successful business. He did have a car accident and is paraplegic but it was so good to find out that he was doing well. 💞

What happened to Charlie? - She met her Prince Charming and lives in a castle on a hill. ♥♥♥

My hope is that each of you reading has connected with something in Charlie's story. We all have real struggles and though we think when we are going through these struggles that we are the only ones, the harsh reality is that we are not unique. There is someone out there experiencing the same struggle in one way or another. A lot of these things may not be our fault but the way we handle them is our responsibility and ours only.

Ask yourself - Do I take control of my life or curl up in a ball?

That choice is yours.
