Reaching | Poem

I reach out to pull you back
In my arms
But my fingers slip through
Like I'm grabbing
For the ghost
Of what we use to be.

I'll continue reaching
Although my fingers may slip
Through you
Again and again
I'll continue until
I've finally grasp you
Holding you tight in my arms
Like we use to do,
Like we'd lose each other
If we didn't.

We held on
But I guess not tight enough
Cause now its over
But I continue reaching out
Over and over again
Trying to get you back.

Maybe we're just bound
To be an off an on thing
Real in every way,
Worth every damn thing,
At least to me,
Something that works
But needs the right timing.

That's fine I'll wait,
I'll continue reaching out
Until we work and last.

I hope your hand will be in mine
Again one day,
Soon
Until then
I'll continue reaching
Out to you.
