When I woke up on the next day, Draco wasn't there beside me. I guessed he was a bit resentful, because he was really worried about my sickness and I kind of ignored him... But it wasn't my biggest problem back then.
It was Sunday, but I found out from Shane that his cousin only makes appointments at the weekend, since she minimalised her working hours because of... Well, pregnancy.
Thanks to his help I made an appointment on the very same day. Tests are tests, but I had to know for sure if it really was it.
Christina's office was mostly white and blue and completely clean, even the feathers on her desk were perfectly arranged next to each other. I almost felt as though our manor was a landfill site in comparision. I plopped down onto a white chair opposite her desk totally nervous, especially beacause she (in a perfect ponytail and perfect Healer robes) was smiling at me, completely calm.
"Well... I'm guessing you came here since you're expecting a child," she said, causing me to blink a few times.
"How did you know?"
"Shane told me about your symptoms and I instinctively figured it out," Christina explained, fixing her brown hair. "Or it just seems to me that every woman is pregnant."
"I'm not sure, I mean...I only did the Muggle test and the result was positive..."
"But you don't trust it, I understand," she finished for me, standing up, then she walked up to one of the cupboards and took a blue potion out of it. "That's why we'll check our, one hundred percent effective method. Take a sip and keep it in your mouth for thirty seconds," she passed me the bottle and I did what she told me to.
After the appropriate time, she told me to spit the potion into a small cup and smiled when she looked at it.
"Turned green, as you can see. Congratulations, you're one hundrend percent pregnant," she announced, getting rid of the cup with her wand.
I took a deep breath. I had known it before, but still another confirmation stressed me out. I was taking it all in while Christina (this time with a bit bigger baby bump) was looking for something on one of the white shelves.
"Now I have another potion for you, let's check which week it is," she told me, mixing something in another cup. "Oh, I'm going to kill you, Weasley... She was supposed to give me mixed ones..." she muttered to herself.
I counted quickly in my head, because I thought I knew when it happened. It was the fourth, I think...
"Alright, the rule is the same. Thirty seconds and spit it out," she told me, giving me another potion to drink.
After spitting it out, Christina confirmed that it was the fourth week. Why didn't I consider becoming a seer?
"Alright then. I'll make it short. The nausea, sensitivity to smells, heartburn, pain in your underbelly and your breasts, irritation, frequent visits to the toilet, tiredness and hell, actually hundreds of similar symptoms are completely normal and if they intesify, you can contact me," she was saying and I was listening to everything in shock. "If they don't intensify, it's okay if we see each other once or twice a month. So far, your child is the size of a grain, in a few months you'll be able to find out about the gender. If it's the fourth week, then..." she counted in her head, "you should give birth around February or March, three months after me. But don't worry, my friend will replace me, golden girl. Do you have any questions?"
I didn't have any, because I was so shocked. After that Christina did several more tests, said everything was alright and prescribed a potion with vitamin, then told me not to burden myself, Apparate too much or be nervous.
I had a problem with the last one. When I left the hospital, I was even more nervous than earlier. I decided to talk to Hermione and tell her about everything - after all, it was thanks to her that I found out, and she was pregnant as well, so she could understand me.
I was sitting with her in the Manor's garden on the very same day and telling her about everything quietly. Draco was home already, but he didn't speak to me, what only worsened my fear of telling him about everything. He locked himself up in his room, claiming he had "paperwork".
"It's impossible," I summarised my history to Hermione, having told her about my appointment, then hid my face in my hands.
"It's impossible, because it's scientifically impossible or is it impossible, because you don't want it to be possible?"
"Ugh, Hermione, don't rave! You know what I mean!" I groaned in frustration.
"Alright, calm down, because it's not good for the baby."
"Shush or Draco will hear you!" I half shouted, half whispered to her, moving my chair in her direction.
"You want to tell me he still doesn't know?" she asked angrily.
Back then I didn't really want to hear lectures, so I crossed my arms and lied a little.
"Let him wait. He teases me all the time."
"But it's abour your baby, Y/N! I think you can avoid teasing in this case!"
"You're not a Slytherin, you won't understand," I replied to her, shaking my head. "Besides, I'm scared," I confessed, looking down.
"Why are you scared? He won't leave you, I'm sure."
"But how am I supposed to tell him? Hi Draco, I'm pregnant. Remember that he's not the most affectionate person in the world, you saw how he reacted with you."
"Because it was me," she said as though it was the most obvious thing in the world. "I simply told Ron that we were going to have a baby... And then, well, he fainted. When he regained consciousness, he didn't remember, what happened... But later he was very happy.
"I can't imagine Draco jumping happily," I said sadly. "I mean, I'm sure he'll be happy, but on the other hand... Eh, the wedding is in three weeks and I..."
"Exactly. Focus on the wedding and stay calm. You will have to tell him eventually," Hermione replied, then stood up. "Merlin, I have to go, we're having a meeting with the ambassador from Egypt."
"Typical Hermione," I shook my head, standing up. "Yoh even had those meetings during our extra year at Hogwarts."
She just smiled.
"I'll see you tomorrow," she said, then disappeared.
I sighed and looked at my stomach, then touched it absent-mindedly. I took the potion Christina had prescribed (I hid it in one of our five bathrooms, the one he practically didn't use), and then decided to go and talk to him.
"Draco... Can I come in?" I asked, having opened the door of his room. Obviously I didn't knock, because he always complained about it.
He was sitting with his back to me by his desk and working on some papers.
"You always can," he replied to me, even though he didn't look at me or sound really friendly.
"Can we talk?" I asked, plopping down onto his old bed.
"So you are finally going to tell me what's going on?" he asked a bit pretentiously, turning towards me with a serious face.
"I saw the doctor today," I told him, and this was when he began to look a bit concerned.
"And what?"
"And..." I bit my lip, willing to tell him and... I didn't manage to. "And everything is alright, the nausea and all... Will go away."
In nine months.
"What is this sickness?" he asked suspiciously.
"Nothing serious, it's just temporary," I told him quickly. "I'm sorry for ignoring you, I'm a bit irritated."
Draco sighed, stood up and finally sat next to me, then hugged me lightly.
"I'm going to be mad because of you," he said, shaking his head.
"I take it as a compliment," I laughed nervously.
First chance - wasted.
Hurray me.
