"I want to officially welcome you into your new house Morgan." I smiled emptily.
I looked at the camera in a serious manner. "How do I even explain this... Your mother was infertile or maybe I was. Hydra did some bad crap back then. One of us were struggling to provide. I hope you know what that means. It means she couldn't get pregnant. We were trying but it just wasn't working. Then you, Morgan, an angel who's done nothing wrong, came. We were so excited and distraught. We were told you quite possibly will be our only child. After childbirth, Brooklyn or I would be I guess out of order." I mumbled. "Then you came 3 months way too early. You weren't even fully developed yet. You've been in the hospital for 2 months, we were constantly attempting to save the only thing we have left in us."
The baby's eyes popped open and it revealed pale eyes and long eyelashes. Her face was squished between my waist and my arm. She just sat there quietly listening to my voice. I couldn't help but smile.
"Your mother became desperate. She told me she will find some magic user to help us. We went to Strange, we went to Xavier, hell we even went to Stark. We just wanted you to live normally. Not under a machine. I remember Brooklyn talking to me about Mephisto. Basically the Devil. She said he visited her last night in her dream. He does give and recieved of equal value wishes." I took a deep breath. "I was fully aware of the bullshit Mephisto likes to do. I told her not to make deals with someone who literally parallels the Devil but she didn't listen. I remember getting so angry that told her that she's being irrational and not thinking clearly. I told her we could always try again, or even look for adoption. She told me that we needed this baby and how it wouldn't be the same. That's when she left the house."
"I thought she went out to go vent to my sister, or anyone. I trusted her. The next morning I realized Brooklyn was still out. I was ready to call her but I got news from the hospital that you were healthy and breathing and opening your eyes. I immediately went to go hold you. You used to be so small and frail. But now you are strong and happier. I should have been excited but I wasn't. I asked what happened overnight that made this drastic change."
"I felt a supernatural urge telling me to go back home immediately. I followed my gut, I signed papers for your release and walked home. I opened the door to find a note sitting on the counter."
I picked up the note that I folded onto the table. I took a deep breath and tried not to cry again."Dear my love, I'm sorry that we had to part like this. I know I'm being selfish but I want our baby to live. I want you to have a part of me even if I can't be there. This child is our first and only, I don't want that ripped away so soon. Please protect her. I love both of you..." I said holding back tears ready to read the next part. "Dear Marcus, your wife.. Brooklyn Miranda Sader gave her life for the following wish.... The child Morgan Marshal will live an abnormally healthy life. Morgan's wounds will heal faster than most and her life span will be extended by 10 years. Your wife's body will not be returned. Thank you for your cooperation. Don't bother trying to prevent it. What's done is done. signed by Mephisto."
I held Morgan so tightly and cried. "I didn't even say goodbye to her. My last moments was an argument. Morgan. I don't blame you for this, I never will. But don't blame yourself. You are still the miracle I needed. If I ever lost you...
"I'm such a sorry excuse of a man. I should have gone after her. I shouldn't have gotten angry." I sobbed.

The helicarrier was still down. But business conducted as usual. Brooklyn has been away on a mission for a day now. The hours have been slowly dragging along. Shes expecting this proposal next week. Oh lord give me strength. I keep thinking back to what Nathan said. There's no rush into getting married right?
I noticed Sam walking alone aimlessly. "Hey." I yelled. He turned showing the bruises, from Lucy's explosion, on his forearm as he waved.
"Good Morning Marcus." He smiled sipping on a McDonald's smoothie.
"How is Riley? I haven't seen her in a minute."
"Her punishment was to teach the unruly kids on the island. Which is pretty easy since Riley was one herself."
"What is with these shitty ass punishments?" I folded my arms.
"Fury told me that he would have reacted the same if a family member was murdered in front of his eyes. He's not going to be a hypocrite." Sam smirked.
"Are you and Riley a thing yet?"
"Yet? No." He laughed.
"Are you staying on Earth?"
Sam rubbed his neck and I gave him a disappointed look. "Oh come on Alexander you-"
"I dont want the Guardians to get mad at me. Im trying to get them to understand that I have to stay."
"You don't have to stay because Riley will get mad you know?"
"I love her Marcus. That hasn't changed. I want her to know that. I can't leave with this on my chest."
"Im glad... Im glad youre staying."
Nathan ran up to me really quickly. "Marcus. Marcus. Marcus. Marcus." He changed. Sly was coming up behind out of breath. "She's back... Come on."
My heart leaped out of my chest. As I waved goodbye and followed the elated inhunan

Brooklyn laid on the chairs in the lunchroom on her phone. She had dirt and blood on her face. She glanced at me and smiled. "We need a new house. I need to just lay down and sleep."
I got up and wiped her face and hands clean.
"You would not be allowed to go into the bed smelling like outside." I laughed. I offered her my hand. "Come on lazy ass."
She stood up and pushed me down until I squatted. She lifted her leg over my head and got on my back. I locked her legs through my arms and got up.
I took her to the roof. The helicarrier wasn't in motion which makes it a lot easier.
I quickly tossed her to my front still holding her by her legs. Her hair whipped into her face and she parted it in the middle to laugh. She hopped down and went to look at the jets. "You need to see what the jet looks like. If I wasn't so skilled I'd be dead." She laughed in the distance.
I pulled the case from my back pocket and glared at it. I'm going to puke my guts out. My legs were shaking and my body was sweating profusely. Why am I so nervous?
What if she says no? What if she says no and breaks up with me? What if she doesn't love me anymore? What if-
"Marcus if you don't get your-." Nathan shouted from behind. I looked back at him ready to retreat. I heard her foot steps coming back towards me.
"Hurry up..." Brooklyn started jogging. I looked into my hand and smacked my face. I hyped myself up as I saw her shoes turn the corner. With the might I had I got down on one knee.
"Brookl-"
"Yes." She said with a shocked look. We looked at each other.
"What was I going to say?" I teased
"Brooklyn Miranda Sader, will you do me the honor of making me the happiest man alive and marry me?" She stepped closer to me.
"You couldn't let me say it myself? There was going to be so much more exposition. Maybe some tears the whole work." I teased and scoffed. She looked a little anxious so I gave her
I pulled out the case and she was already ready to take me down. She ran towards me. She kissed my face all over and started to cry. "My mom is going to kill me." She held my face, barley keeping her composure. This time there wasn't fear in her eyes. Only excitement
"Wait are you sure?" I asked. "After everything? After seeing the horrible person I am... You want to-"
"I don't make mistakes, Marcus." She smiled.
Maybe the rest of my life won't be as shitty as I thought.
