Blisterback

I rush through a burned and bloodied battlefield. It's the middle of the day, but you would never know it with how much smoke is blotting out the sun. I pass scattered corpses and destroyed war machines. I just woke up in a half-destroyed building. The last thing I remember was an explosion, and a piece of the wall I was taking cover behind flying towards my face. I found no trace of life nearby, so I started heading towards the sounds of raging battle: distant gunfire and explosions, screams, swords clashing, roars and snarls. I vault over broken walls, and abandoned trenches. I spot a hill ahead with a broken down artillery vehicle on top of it. I start climbing it to get a good vantage point. When I reach the peak, I look down upon a much more active battlefield. The three sides are raging against each other like waves against unmoving cliffs. Endromic Fighters, Covenant, and Cthulians. The Covenant are dug in, setting up makeshift defenses as they are bombarded with attacks from Endromic Fighters and Cthulians. We may have a common enemy, but there are no truces between us and the Cthulians. As both factions push against the Covenant's defenses, they also fight amongst themselves. I watch as the battle rages on, looking for an advantage to act upon. Two goliaths jump over the Covenant's defenses to wreak havoc on our troops. They roar thunderously, swinging their huge arms around, smashing and flinging soldiers in all directions. A giant rushes in and swings his club, punting one of the goliaths hundreds of meters back to the Covenant. It's corpse punches a hole in their defenses, and a brief surge is all the Cthulians need to break through. I take in my more immediate surroundings for any way to help. I examine the artillery vehicle I passed earlier. It's a Covenant blisterback. I notice that it's actually not broken down at all. It looked like it was broken into, where the pilot was presumably killed. The blitseback itself is actually completely intact. I find the entrance hatch and climb inside. The controls are complex, but I was trained to use Covenant vehicles. I power up the vehicle, and holographic displays show me the battlefield ahead of me. It shows Cthulians and Endromic Fighters as enemies, and Covenant as friendlies. I quickly reprogram the friend-or-foe system to show the correct alignment. I power up the targeting system and it points outs the best places of the battlefield to target: the Covenant's defensive line, smack dab in the middle of the Cthulians, and the same for the Covenant. I choose the second choice and start adjusting the target location. "Missiles loading." A robotic voice tells me. A green light appears, telling me I'm ready fire. I pull the trigger, and hold on as the whole vehicle rattles. "Firing... Target hit." The robotic voice says. I look at the display and cheer. My missiles have wreaked havoc among the Cthulians. Endromic Fighters surge against them, forcing the Cthulians to surrender some ground. I target the Covenant next. My missiles break their defenses, allowing Cthulians and Endromic Fighters alike to charge in. I cheer again as the tide of the battle turns in our favor. Soon enough the Covenant is retreating and the the last of the Cthulian stragglers are being picked off. Endromic Fighters cheer, and I climb out of the blisterback. I stand on top of it, and someone points me out. The Endromic Fighters cheer, at me this time. This battle has been won. Unfortunately, the war is far from over.
