This imagine talks about anxiety, so if that is a topic you'd prefer not to read please skip this one. Anxiety is something that shouldn't be taken lightly, and it's hard to overcome. I sometimes get anxiety, and it is hard. You just have to take it one day at a time. I'm sorry if any of you struggle with anxiety, but I hope it will all get better. Find your "Loki" to confide in. I hope this is alright, and I hope I haven't hurt any of your feelings. I hope I never do that because that's not what I intend to do.
Today had been one of those days. Your stress levels were high no thanks to the other employees at the internship. Not only that, but your employer expected you to have ten short stories complete within be the week. You liked your boss, but you hadn't been able to think of one solid story for a couple of weeks now. College was okay, but you feared you wouldn't be able to balance school and work, despite being a straight A student.
Your friend Loki who was your crush, and your roommate, insisted you take a break, and that you should watch a movie with him.
The whole duration of the movie you couldn't focus. Your mind still drifted away to the work that had to be completed. You were to worried to enjoy your time with Loki that he began to notice.
"Are you alright y/n?" He looked into you eyes. His own were filled with concern as he grabbed a hold of your hand.
"I'm fine." You lied hoping he wouldn't push you any further.
"Don't lie to me y/n. I wish you would tell me what's troubling you, but please don't lie to me." He frowned.
He was right. You really shouldn't have lied to him, but you didn't want to dole out your problems out on him. You held back your tears as you got up walking away.
"You... You're right. I'm sorry... I'm. I'm going to bed."
"But you haven't eaten yet." His voice held more concern in it.
"I'm... Not hungry." You tensed up, frustrated that he wouldn't stop talking. You wobbled to your room shutting the door behind you.
You struggled to put on your pyjamas as the dread of the next day filled you're mind. You tried to think about the good things in your life. College, the internship, Loki. It's just that you didn't want to disappoint anyone, including yourself.
You went to your bathroom washing your face. It helped only a little. You walked to your bed pulling down the covers. Slowly you got in covering yourself up.
The night was restless. You couldn't sleep at all. The thoughts, the thoughts, consumed you. You knew this wasn't good for your health, and you had been struggling with anxiety for far too long. It was something of a nightmare in real life.
Your chest tightened, and it became hard for you to breathe. Your heart rate quickened, and though it was hard to breathe you breathing became rapid.
You were tired of the anxiety. You wanted it to stop. You needed it to stop, but it was far too hard. The tears began to pool out your eyes, and you wanted to wake up from this struggle.
That's when you heard the door slam open and strong arms wrap around you. You leaned into Loki's touch laying your hands on his chest, before taking them away, for he had no shirt on.
"Oh my darling. Shhhh. It's okay." He rocked you until you stopped crying only whimpers escaping your mouth.
He pulled you away so he could look you in the eye. His eyebrows raised, and his eyes had worry etched into them. His mouth parted as he was trying to think of what to say.
"It's gotten worse hasn't it? Your anxiety?"
You looked down trying not to cry again. "Yes." You barely managed to whisper.
He pulled you to him running his fingers through your tangled hair. "Why didn't you tell me y/n?"
You wrapped your arms around his neck, and you realized he used his powers to put a shirt back on. Then you wondered if you should tell him. You finally caved in sighing.
"I... I didn't.."
"Take your time darling, I'm not going anywhere." He whispered as he continued to run his fingers through your hair.
"I didn't want to throw all my problems on you. I mean you were exiled from Asguard for something you didn't do."
"Y/n... That was years ago, and you took me in. You took me in and listened to all I had to say. I'm better now. That's because you helped me. It's my time to do that for you. Please tell me what's wrong, and please don't lie."
You pulled away from him looking at your hands. You told him everything about the internship, the stories, college. You told him how you didn't want to disappoint him or anyone else. You told him how you worried too much, and your struggle to fall asleep at night.
"And I just.... I'm tired of the anxiety. I'm tired of having chest pains. I just want to be able to fall asleep at night without tossing and turning in my bed for an hour thinking about things I don't need to worry about. I... I'm tired. I'm not fine. I... I need help."
Loki pulled you to him again, and this time you blushed when you felt him kiss the top of your head.
"Thank you for telling me. Y/n... I want to do everything I can to help you. I want to help you with your anxiety. I want you to feel better. Anytime you feel bad, tell me. I don't want you to go through this alone. I want to be here for you. Always."
He pulled you away and looked directly into your eyes. "Y/n... I'm here, and I love you."
"You... You love me?"
"Yes. I do very much love you."
You couldn't help but cry, "tears of joy." You laughed.
"There's that beautiful laugh, and sweet smile." He wiped a tear from your cheek. You held his hand that was on your cheek leaning into it closing your eyes.
"Oh love you must be sleepy. Would you like me to stay with you?"
You yawned nodding as you opened your eyes. His green ones sparkled as they radiated warmth and love. He lied down, and you lied your head on his chest. He rubbed your back kissing your head before pulling up the covers.
"Everything is going to be alright. We aren't perfect. We make mistakes, and we are supposed to learn from them so we won't try make those same mistakes. As long as you try your best, that's all that matters. I know you're still hard on yourself, and that's one of the reasons I'm here for you. I believe in you, and I know that you're going to do great things. You already have."
You smiled snuggling into his chest feeling sort of better. "Thank you Loki. I."
He chucked, and you loved feeling the vibrations of his laugh and the sound of his heartbeat, "Seems you are very sleepy indeed my love. Sleep well." He kissed the top of your head one more time.
"Loki... I... I love you too." You whispered before falling asleep.
Loki smiled knowing he'd done something good for you. He was also happy to know that you loved him too. As soon as you were asleep, he too fell into a deep peaceful sleep holding you, the woman he loves so very much.
Sweet dreams
