Lately, everything had felt off. You felt like you were always being followed, but when you'd look behind you, no one was to be seen. It made you scared to go out, but sometimes you just thought it was your mind playing tricks on you.
Then it got worse. You felt like you were being followed not only in real life, but you were also bein followed in your dreams. Each time you'd look behind you, but no one was there.
The worst part was that you were all alone in your little cottage. Your parents had passed some time ago, and you didn't have friends. Also you had no neighbors and lived an hour away from the nearest village. That's what confused you. No one knew where you lived, so why would you feel like you were being followed? You really didn't know. You didn't have much to offer money wise.
Today you felt safer than usual, so you got dressed out of your night gown, and you went outside. You carried your book with you and smelt the fresh air. Then you froze when you heard a snap. You turned around, but you didn't see anyone. You were about to turn back around when the ground began to rumble. An enormous beast was running straight to you. All you could do was scream, and you couldn't willingly move. You closed your eyes preparing for the worse, but it never came.
You opened your eyes, and the creature was gone. You blinked your eyes wondering if your brain had just made that up. Then you saw green mist flow behind you. You were scared to turn around, but you took the risk.
Behind you stood one the Princes of Asguard. Loki. You were shocked, and at the same time you were confused to say the least.
"Wait... Are you the one who has been following me?"
"That's the first thing you ask? Darling, I just saved your life." He walked closer to you placing his hands behind his back.
"I'm sorry. Thank you, my prince." You spoke a snarky remark.
"You can call me Loki." He ignored what you said and stepped even closer.
"Why me? Why are you following me? I... I'm not noble, nor am I a princess." You frowned looking away.
"You're... Different than all the others, than everyone. You intrigued me when no one else did, and I don't know why. I just know that I had to protect you and keep you safe. You are like a precious gift in this bland world."
You remained speechless. What he revealed was sweet, and yet it was so strange and odd as it had been before you knew who truly followed you.
"Thank you for your concern, but don't you think if you were always being followed, you'd feel a bit worried." You paused taking a deep breath, "this whole time I have been scared to go out. Could you not see that?"
Loki began to feel guilty as he looked down to the ground.
"I'm not trying to be disrespectful my prince, but let me ask you this. Have you also been following me in my sleep?"
"Yes." He looked up and you with regret in his eyes.
"Why? They are dreams. If you're helping me get rid of nightmares, thank you, but because I've felt like I've been followed in my sleep, I've had a hard time wanting to go to sleep."
Loki frowned as he stepped closer to you. "I'm sorry. I should have thought about how you would feel or at least tell you. I don't know what came over me."
"I've always heard people do stupid things when they are in love. Is this the case with you?" You couldn't help but bite the inside of your cheek wondering if you should've kept that thought to yourself.
"I... I suppose it is. I guess guess it explains why I'm so protective of you."
"How did you find me anyway?"
"I know it's odd, but I saw you in one of my dreams. It was after I preformed a foresight spell to see what was in my future.... I learned a lot in that dream, but then I saw you. The dream didn't show much, but I knew I had to find you. I happened to find you in the marketplace of a nearby village. That's when it began. I knew you were in my future, and I wanted to make sure you were always okay. Eventually the future was forgotten, and I only cared for you. I truly am sorry for not revealing myself sooner."
"Loki, it's okay. All is forgiven, and though it was a little strange, I think it's also sweet. Maybe I'm the one under a spell." You giggled.
"I'm the one under your spell darling." He grabbed your hands kissing the tops of them.
You couldn't help but stutter, "th... Thank you."
"You're adorable, truly. May I show you the royal gardens tomorrow?"
"I'd like that very much." You smiled looking into it emerald green eyes.
"I'll see you tomorrow then, princess." He smiled squeezing your hands.
Then all the sudden you opened your eyes, finding yourself in your room. You were in your night gown, and you sat on your bed. This whole thing had been a dream.
Or had it? The only way you would know was when tomorrow arrived, or was tomorrow today? That's when you heard a knock on the door.
You quickly put on a dress, and you opened the door gasping at who you saw.
"Hello princess."
