My parents called me into the throne room. I was very nervous because this never happened. I don't remember doing anything wrong. Maybe they wanted to tell me to stop wearing pants under my skirts, because I detest skirts. After I dismissed my thoughts, I took a deep breath straightening my dress making sure I looked as my mother would say, "pristine".

I walked in, and my parents sat on their thrones. I probably hadn't seen them in several weeks because the duty of a king and queen was apparently more important than spending quality time with your only child. My mother looked at me with one of those weird proud parent looks, and I walked closer.

"Mother, father, you requested my appearance." I formally spoke unlike my normal use of improper speech.

"Yes we did y/n. We wanted to discuss something with you about your future."

"Alright. What may it be?"

"You are quite of age to be married y/n, and you have yet to find any suitable Prince. We decided that we will find one for you and hopefully do well in trading and friendship with their kingdom."

"Married? Why must you choose who I am to wed? Maybe I don't want to. Also I was never told I had to find a Prince."

"Silence!" My father said.

"Please... Can I not have some time at least to look for myself?" I pleaded hoping they would see that this was slighltly unfair.

"Y/n.... Oh alright we will settle it this way. We shall invite all Princes that are unmarried to compete in a series of events to show their skill set. It matters not where they come from as long as they are indeed princes and single. The one that wins shall be your husband. However, if at anytime you see a man that you think will love you and be a good husband, you have the right to stop the game and say that you want that Prince to be your husband. Can we agree to those terms?"

I sighed. This was no way to be married. I didn't even want to be married yet. I suppose my parents gave me some slack though considering most marriages are arranged and the girl has no say. At least this way, I could sorta choose someone. I'd rather it be this way than the arranged marriage, so I accepted the terms. The event was to happen two weeks from today and last the whole of that week. The first day would consist of each prince introducing himself. The other days would consist of challenges of skill and strength. If a suitor lost, they wouldn't advance to the next days competitions. I just hope there will be someone I could find, say I "loved", and get the whole thing done and over with.

~two weeks later~

The invites had been sent, and now the day for the starting events had arrived. As my mother dressed me, I looked at all the coaches coming and going. Then I would shortly observe each prince as they walked into the kingdom. Some princes looked as if they knew they could win. Other princes appeared to be scared, like their mothers forced them into doing it. Other princes looked like they didn't want to be there at all. Which I wouldn't blame them. I wouldn't be here either if I could.

Mother had finished getting me dressed. I matched our ocean kingdom perfectly. I wore a strapless soft dress that flowed out to the bottom of the dress. It wasn't too poofy, and the colors went from brown to different blues. I actually quite liked it. She gave me pearl earrings and the necklace she wore when her parents introduced her to my father. I only hoped that today wouldn't be boring. I even snuck a book with me.

I accompanied my parents on the balcony that would overlook the people and the princes that introduced themselves. I looked out and saw many people that came probably to cheer on the prince from their kingdom.

"You may all sit down now. We thank you for coming to this event. As you know each of you have been chosen to compete for the hand of our lovely daughter (full name). If you lose a game, you are unfortunately disqualified from the competition. However, you can still have a chance if y/n calls your name."

Everyone was cheering and happy unlike me. My father raised his hand again, and they all quieted down so he could continue to speak.

"We will begin today with each competitor telling his name and where he hail from. You may or may not add any additional information as desired. We have situated you all into groups, and one by one we will go through from one group to the next until all have spoken. Begin."

At that point, I just wanted nothing more than to disappear. I looked out and realized that they really were in groups. There were the brawny princes who probably had no room or use for a brain, the lean ones, and the ones who look like they wanna go home. Halfway through all the brawny princes, I began to read my book. I was at a really good point in the story when I stopped because I heard a name that made me freeze. It wasn't because of the person the name belonged to, no it was because it made me think of another man.

It was Thor Odinson. I wondered why he would compete, but I knew it was probably just his parents doing like mine. I could care less if half of the ladies swooned. I was still focused on my book, however my mind wasn't there. I was thinking of a boy. A boy who was so kind to me when I had to live in their kingdom when my own was under war. I was thinking of Loki, Thor's younger brother. He was so kind to me during my stay. We were both so young, and he helped me learn how to have fun. I wondered if he was here too. I wondered if his mother convinced him to come. What if he was already married? It was then that I realized how much I missed him, and my heart was slightly hurting.

I continued to read my book still thinking of Loki and occasionally glancing at the men. We had gotten through all the muscle and were halfway through the average princes. We still had the last group that my parents, or whoever is organizing this, must've not known where to place. I even think I might've dozed off for a while because now the last prince from the second group said what he had to say.

I picked up my book again, and that's when I heard the voice I had been longing to hear.

Loki.
