My Snake

A long time ago, a young Loki was alone in the forest. He often felt alone regardless, but there was was something about being in the forest that comforted him.

He was fixing to continue his walk when a snake was right in front of him. It hang from a limb of a tree, and it's eyes stared into Loki's own.

"Hello there." Loki whispered. The snake hissed in return.

Loki raised up his hands and the small snake slithered into his hand. "You are a beautiful snake. I think we shall be the best of friends. You are my snake."

Loki started to walk out the woods when a large man walked in front of him.

"Well if it isn't the young prince? What price would the King and Queen pay to have their son back in their arms?"

"I don't think that will be necessary." Loki smirked.

That made the man mad, and he began to run towards Loki. Before Loki could get out his daggers, the snake launched out of Loki's hand. Within seconds, the man was dead on the ground.

The snake went back to Loki, and Loki picked it up. "I could've fought him myself, but thank you, my snake."

After that, Loki took the snake back to his garden. He grabbed a book and brought it out as well. Then he used a spell.

His eyes went wide when the green and gold snake turned into a girl. She had on a gold dress and long h/c hair. She was his age, and she looked pretty normal.

"You made me human." The girl smiled.

"Yes. You don't mind do you?"

"No. Not at all." She smiled. "Though...  I I don't have a name. I never had a name."

"Y/n." Loki smiled.

"Why y/n?"

"Y/n is the name of one of my favorite heroines in one of my favorite books. She's smart, beautiful, and strong. She is just so... Amazing."

"Y/n it is."

Years later

Now you had the ability to go from your human form and your true form. You were the only friend Loki had because he didn't want other friends. You also were his protector, or at least you just made sure he was okay. You were the one that gave yourself the title of Loki's protector. You knew he could protect himself, but ever since your first encounter, protecting him was just your second nature.

Loki was so caring towards you. He taught you how to read. He taught you more about Asgard, and he taught you magic. He also gave you a room to call your own.

Now you both were adults, and despite all odds, you had managed to fall in love with him. It was a weird sensation for a snake a to love a being entirely different from their species.

Of course you kept it your little secret. You figured it was for the best, but you still worried about the day it would surface in conversation.

"Y/n... What are you thinking so deeply about?" Loki walked up to you, smiling.

"Oh nothing really. Random thoughts." You shrugged as you got up and walked with him.

"It didn't seem like anything."

"Well... It wasn't." You hissed.

"Okay, I'll leave you alone." Loki laughed. You couldn't help but blush. As time passed you learned that when you got mad, you would hiss.

"I didn't make you go silent did I?" Loki walked in front of you.

"No." You were about to respond when you heard his brother talking to who you thought was Wanda. You turned into your snake form and Loki picked you up. You slithered into a bag he began to carry around incase you turned back into your snake form. You kept your head out to see what was going on.

"Hello Loki."

"Hello Thor."

"You know, you don't have to hide your snake from me. As long as it doesn't stab me." Thor laughed.

"How did you know."

"Loki... I don't know how many times I'm going to have to tell you that I'm not stupid. You've had that snake since we were children. You used it to prank the servants all the time. I believe you named her y/n. I also know that you turned her into a girl."

You couldn't believe Thor knew. You thought you were so secret, but it made sense that he would eventually find out. You went out of the bag and looked up to Loki.

"Go ahead y/n. You don't have to ask my permission. You have your own free will." Loki nodded.

You transformed into you're human form standing in front of Loki. Thor's eyes went wide as he looked at you. "You're... Beautiful."

You didn't say anything, and you tried not to hiss. Behind you, Loki clenched his jaw and walked to you.

"Does she speak?"

"Yessss I speak." You hissed. You were about to advance towards him, but Loki grabbed your arm.

"Y/n..." Loki looked to you, and staring into his soft eyes, you began to calm down.

"Sorry. I don't know why I got so angry." You whispered never looking away.

"It's alright. It's all okay." Loki responded.

"That's very sweet. You both love each other. Anyway, I'm going to leave now." Thor awkwardly walked away, probably to the kitchen.

Your eyes went wide, and you looked down. You pulled away, and you were about to walk away when Loki tenderly grabbed your arm.

"Y/n... Where are you going?" Loki whispered in a kind way.

"I... I." You stuttered.

"Y/n, were you about to walk away because of what Thor said?"

You still remained speechless, and Loki then held both of your hands. "I have to say that I do harbor feelings for you."

You finally looked up to him with sad eyes.

"You... You don't feel the same do you?" Loki frowned.

"It's not that Loki. I... feel the same way about you. I have for a long time, and that's what I was thinking about when you came to me." You stepped forward just a little.

"Then what's the matter?"

"I'm the matter. Loki, I'm really just a snake. I'm not human. I'm not Asgardian. I'm just... An animal. I managed to fall in love with you, but when have you ever seen a relationship like this work?" Tears began to slip down your cheeks as you looked down.

"Darling, please look up at me." You did as he asked. "I know we haven't shared a relationship in that way, but we have been friends all this time. It's all worked out so far. Y/n, I love you, and that is all that really matters. We've been through a lot together, but we've always had each other's back. Darling, we deserve happiness. You are my happiness. You are my snake. Your not my pet. You are you, and I love you no matter what. "

"Loki." You smiled as tears still left your eyes. "I love you. I love you so much. I always have." You giggled wrapping your arms around his neck.

Loki wrapped his arms around your waist as he kissed the top of your head. "I love you too, love. I look forward to all our future adventures together."

"Me too." Your smile widened as you closed your eyes. You were happy that this event worked out for the better.

Can I just say how beautiful this artwork is? I absolutely love this art so much. I only hope that one day I'll be as good as this artist.
