When he met her she was volatile, chaos incarnate. He didn't realize til the end of the night spending a full 24 hrs together doing nothing but sharing that they calm something inside each other. It was obvious to him how sheltered she grew up and she told him how while she always wanted to be better than her mother it turned out all she wanted was to do the exact same thing as her: discover the harsh world for herself. She told him about how she never resented her mother while she was gone -- not til she came back and made them leave their Bo behind. Erik understands a strategic retreat but all Lila wanted was to go back and save Bo. She was never interested in coming to Rome and mastering their abilities but Ruth was convinced they could learn a advantage. Since running into her that fateful morning, both Erik and Lila have learned a lot about what she's capable of, more than she ever wanted to know. Now that he knows too much and Lila's lost her mother and all she has blames is herself and this choice to cross a ocean for answers, they have to stick together. And now that they know there's somebody just as powerful as Lila but the complete opposite, all Erik can do is suggest a strategic retreat; they have to find sanctuary.

I was trying to stick to European folks seeing as Lila's in Europe least at the start of this story but if you're not feeling that you could just use Ross Butler or Angus Cloud or someshit as exchange student-Erik -- and I feel like this story would still work if Lila was grown grown so if you want to go further into the future with it Jerrika Hinton and Wade Allain-Marcus could work as Lila and Erik
So basically Erik is intrigued by and wants to study Lila's powers and help her understand them better and more importantly he helps her navigate/acclimate to the outside world and Simona's basically turned into her arch-nemesis/super-villain over the yrs and after she takes out Ruth when they go to her for answers Lila's a mess -- their ultimate goal's to find out what Simona's trying to do, track down and rescue Bo and go back to her family's house
