It never would've occurred to Quique there was more than surviving without meeting her in the middle of pure chaos. After they got separated, he refused to go through the motions anymore. He'd get his family out of the city and see her again in Chiapas like they talked about.

So since the writers kinda flopped w Connie you can go as AU as you please w this story of hers I was thinking they had to go in different directions bc Connie was looking for Kelly and Quique was looking for his godbaby and his parents -- shoot or his baby baby if you want -- but they aint gotta be separated for yrs and yrs Connie coulda never ended up in Alexandria and they could run back into each other in Texas, Tamaulipas, Chihuahua, Arizona, etc or they stories could be apart for a while and after Virgil and reuniting w Kelly in canon they turn around and go south
Also they absolutely encounter some villains along the way and do lose people (i.e. his father) so again you can go all out w the AU
