He thought his complicated and twisted relationship with Julia Wicker, or his first and only real romance with Eliot Waugh would be what shaped him into the man he is today. As he goes deeper into the mysteries Q's got a ridiculous hardon for with the rest of The Lying Witches And His Wardrobe krewe, he finds out he has no idea what really shaped him. Might be the shady deal with a big boss from when he was a kid, that left him with seemingly fucked magic and apparently only partial shade. Or it's the missing memories from his real formative years in Florida he spent building a unbreakable, pan-universal bond with a boy with a destiny. All of a sudden he's questioning everything; what's he even at Brakebills for? Is it because he knew Eliot would be there or because Julia pushed him in that direction? All he knows is since coming here, this dude who's straight dressed like a magician, and he'd remember seeing him if he ever had before, is all he can see now even when he clearly doesn't want people to. Penny's familiar as shit, like he's on the back of his motherfucking eyelids -- and maybe caring about him especially when nobody else does, always finding him and being that anchor's what's really shaping him today.

A LITTLE EXTRA : They were entirely too fucking cute when they were kids but you don't have to include that if you just want to stick to present day, either way their connection's not going anywhere Graham's the only one whose mind he loved or even just liked compared to other people and he's the only way he could stand hearing the Beast in the past or the present

Speaking of present day, the relationships. Penny still dicks down Cady, and Alice, and Graham might be putting it down on Eliot one or few times, but Penny and Graham stay close as fuck no matter what. He's it for him, he's got his back, he's ready to follow him any fucking where, and that shit applies across all timelines -- his relationship with Penny 23 might be a little different than with Penny 40 but they still have that chemistry
