Nafessa Williams as Winifred AKA The Choking Season
Fred was supposed to be the Grace upgrade, protecting the Academy while growing up with them, ensuring the success of every mission. Nearly as powerful as Number 7 yet more unrestrainable, there was no option but to be more skilled while cordoned off from the Academy itself. None of that meant anything when his sentient creation failed them and they lost Number 6. The destruction in the aftermath of Ben's death forced Reginald's hand. He had no choice but exile; pushing his unstable, failed experiment further away than he ever had before and out into the world. And the Choking Season stays away -- growing up alone, wallowing in guilt and all these emotions never asked for -- aimlessly wandering in search of redemption, without the first idea of where to look. Until the creator contacts with orders further than this world. Carrying enough baggage, Fred couldn't be less interested in Number 1's crusade and personal brand of redemption. They keep themselves and their differing outlooks to the halves they divided the moon into until they're called back.
A LITTLE EXTRA : Got Fred's super name from my new fav series, "Broken Earth," by N.K. Jemisin, the Choking Season started out as one of the special babies but weren't found by the Monocle for a few years, by the time he did, the baby was a little too nuclear so he experimented and modified and created a AI way more complex than Grace -- the best comparison I can think of is a T-900 (like in The Sarah Connor Chronicles) -- and super power, in Fred's opinion, is the ability to feel so much
Fred was feeling entirely too much on the way from the moon to the funeral, but all that was overshadowed by the awe of meeting all these people essentially for the first time instead of just glancing meetings when on missions together before the Monocle pulls and shuts Fred out
The Choking Season gets attached to the Seance quick, partly because of Ben, and when they're along for the ride with the Kraken, Fred enjoys the way Diego's hero-ing
