The Shadow King's taken enough from them. Because of him, Konstantin's not a mutant, he's a abomination. And worse, feeling like he was born yesterday, he has no idea the extent of how dangerous he's become. He might not remember but he has a feeling his powers might match the woman he's pitted against. He doesn't trust anybody, least of all himself, he recognizes the too-familiar look in Ororo's eyes though. If they can break out, maybe they can find out what they're capable of together.
Or well, some professor who thinks he knows everything can take them in like they're helpless orphans, grow them in his image and indoctrinate them

I think I just like characters who clash with Professor X morally and feel inferior to him y3ni like Charles Xavier makes them feel like monsters
Anyways he really liked it when it was them 2 against the world and he might be a little jealous when she adjusts slightly better and makes connections and everything -- even though in this story she's a little closed off about sharing her past with other people at the X-Mansion
If you want to add extra anti to his anti-hero, he could've been working for Farouk before and since being locked up with other mutants and Storm, he's on a rocky path to redemption
