The Tatums have been her family for years now and when they decide Texas is the move -- not Georgia -- after the storm, Nell and Ray make a pact to have each other's backs in Dillon no matter what. Even if it means she finally has to get into his game, or least learn a basic understanding of it.
A LITTLE EXTRA : So if anybody remembers Aldis Hodge in FNL, Ray's probably breaking that promise -- they have a lot of tension and conflict after they come to Dillon and whether you want to make it a AU where Ray decides to stay in Dillon or not, Nell does stay
Haven't decided how Nell stays in Dillon but if you don't want her to end up being the thousandth kid Coach Taylor adopts, her father who lost parental rights a while ago (back in NO) could come back into the picture and fight for those rights back and provide her with a place to stay at in Dillon, or something else entirely
Tika Sumpter or Olivia Washington could be back-up FCs for Nell
