Everybody just assumes they have no real problems bc of their fancy school and upbringing. The annual trips to see family are the only escape for both of them, til it aint enough and his cousin Tere's dragging him on to some shady ferry that aint the regular one from San Juan to Santo Domingo only to then get on a taxibus to cross the border at Malpasse. But before they could even get on that taxibus, the prettiest whirlwind he's ever seen struts onto the docks commanding attention and looking like everything he knows nothing about it but wishes he did.
