The one upside to having a reputation's she never had to explain herself. Flor's a outsider so basically everybody already knows how she ended up working for Sugar. When Dushane comes along trying to take her under his wing just because she looks out for him one time, she starts questioning things she never questioned before. He gives her a opportunity to not stay stuck and she takes it. Now she's farther away from home than ever before. All she ever was before was a former medical student who threw herself into her work to try to forget everything. Now she wants to live -- even if it's on this cold miserable island -- least one person makes her feel welcome besides Dushane.
