Symphony’s POV

I sat in Darren’s office, my face buried in his chest. I wanted to know why my family did what they did. What did Chris and I do to make them want to kill us? Akira and Aaron had just explained everything they learned to Darren, Chris, and I. I ha to agree with Chris that for whatever reason our family decided to try and kill us had something to do with Mom. I also wandered what Jacob’s dad’s evolvement was. Akira was right he had to have known something.

“I contacted the council and they assigned a meeting. I messaged them all the information we’ve gathered. They’ll contact us when the meeting is and where it’ll be held.” Darren explains rubbing my back soothingly.

“That means I’ll have to see my father and brothers.” Chris whispers uneasily.

“They can’t hurt you Chris, there’s nothing to worry about.” Aaron says calmly. I noticed that Akira seemed to be acting really strange around Chris.

“I can’t face them, the don’t care. They know both Symphony and I are still alive they’ll do anything to make sure that we don’t contact the council.” He explains worriedly.

“He’s right, my family tried to kill me, my Alpha had some type of role, and the Beta tried to cover it up. What’s going to stop them from coming back and finishing the job? They know where we are!” I say jumping up from my seat besides Darren.

“Calm down Symphony. I promise you I won’t let anything happen to either of you. Just sit down and relax.” Darren says calmly grabbing my hand pulling me besides him. I take a dew deep breathes trying to do as he said and calm down. But I couldn’t stop the thoughts running through my mind. I didn’t want to die especially not at the hands of my own family members. I had to believe Darren but I was scared.

A week had passed and Chris and I were a mess. Chris wouldn’t leave his hut and I was paranoid. I jumped at the slightest sound and my insomnia was worst than ever. I shared a hut with Akira but I could never get to sleep. Akira was worried, Darren was worried, the entire pack was worried about Chris and I. the only thing that could calm me down was when I’d work in the stables. Darren’s horse Sypher was my source of comfort, he’d let me touch him, groom him, and feed him. I visited the stables on a daily basis.

To keep me distracted many pack members would help me keep my mind off of everything. Darren’s sister Jezebel ran the packs day car. I fell in love with her daughter Peris (It’s pronounced the same way as Paris). She was the cutest thing in the world. I loved playing with her. Another pup that had me wrapped around their fingers was a little boy named Randy. He was soft spoken and shy.

It was Sunday night and today the pack was throwing a picnic. Since I spent most of the day in stables my clothes were a mess so I went to the hut to change my clothes. I didn’t think anything was wrong when I entered the hurt. Normally Akira would pop into the hut do what ever she needed to do then leave. So when I enter the hut to see the lights on I thought nothing of it. I walked into my room and changed into a red tank top, brown shorts, a pair of white sandals, and I threw in a white lace scarf Akira had gotten me. When I walked downstairs I walked into the kitchen to get a drink of water. I only had my back turned for a few seconds before I receive a blow to the back of my head. The hit disorients me and another blow follows soon after. This one knocks me to the ground. I attempt to crawl away but again another blow comes down. I am not going to die. I am not going to die. I chanted this repeatedly through my mind. Slowly I attempted to stand up using whatever strength I have to life myself up. Using the counter for support I’m jerked back by the person pulling on my scarf. I wasn’t going to give up. I was going to fight. I begin to struggle wildly but the person only tightens their pull on the scarf. Managing t tug on the scarf the person spins me around and I’m met face to face with Michael. He pushed me so I’m pinned against the counter as he continues to choke me. I place my hand on the counter and begin frantically trying to find something to defend myself. Finally my hand lands on the handle of a knife. Grabbing it I jab it into his side. He lets out a groan staggering backwards. I yank the knife out and stab him again this time in the stomach. He collapses to the ground clutching his wound. I stand against the counter trying to breathe when I hear a loud banging. I fear that someone else had come to finish the job until I realized the scent and I know I’m safe. And with that thought I black out.
