Hide's P.O.V.

Kaneki isn't home yet and it's starting to worry me. Maybe he had to help on one of the food runs. Maybe his cheating, no he would never do that.

I was watching the news and taping my foot on the ground. I was getting inpatient. I was about to go outside and look for him when I heard the front door being opened. Kaneki came in he was sweating and he was hugging his jacket against his torso. He closed the door and slid down to the floor. I rushed to him.

"Kaneki?! Are you okay? Where were you?" He didn't answer any of my questions. He let me move his arms so I could see why he was hugging himself. He had cuts on his chest and stomach.

"Some investigators attacked me. I was just barely able to get out. They didn't see my face, thankfully." He tiredly said. After a few seconds I helped him stand up and got him into the bathroom. I had him sit on the toilet. I helped him take off his jacket and button up shirt. Then I got a wet wash cloth and cleaned the wounds. He hissed at the contact, it probably stung. After I got done, I got the first aid kit and bandaged him up. When I was done there was bandages all over his torso and a few on his arms.

I helped him stand up again and brought him to our room. I had him lay in bed and I laid next to him. I pulled the blanket over us and carefully laid my head on his chest. I didn't want hurt him. He wrapped his arms around me.

"You scare me when you come home like this." I said after a few minutes.

"I know and I'm sorry. I'll try to be more careful."

"Promise?"

"Promise." He said before he kissed me on the forehead. And he played with my hair. We just stayed in each other's arms awhile we slept.
