Nightmares (different version)

Hide's P.O.V.

I was finishing up my homework when Kaneki went to bed. Once I was done, I walked in the bedroom and saw Kaneki was already asleep. I smiled before getting ready for bed and laid down next to him. I wrapped my arms around him and his back was against me. I kissed him on the cheek before falling asleep.

Time skip~~

I was still asleep when I felt something start to flinch and rub itself against me. I groaned and opened my eyes. Kaneki had a uneasy look on his face and was letting out little noises. He would move like someone was attacking him. It took me a few seconds to figure out what was going on. He was having one of his nightmares. These are becoming so common. He would try to stay awake because of them.

"Kaneki, wake up." I said as I shook his arm. He still didn't awake up. "Come on, buddy." Tears started to run down his face and he started to sweat a little bit too. He was also letting out whimpers and panted too. I continued to shake his arm and talk to him. I also kissed his cheek and behind his ear, just trying to wake him up out of the hell of a dream.

After awhile, his eyes flew open and he took deep breaths. I let out a sigh of relief. He turned his head and looked up at me. His eyes were a little red, I guess from the crying in his sleep.

"H-Hide?" He said weakly.

"Yes, it's me."

"I-I..." He said before he rolled over and hugged me tightly. I hugged back and played with his hair and also kissed him in the head. I just let him cry. He eventually stopped crying, but he was still sniffing.

"I'll go make you some tea." I offered before getting up. But he had a death grip on my arm. Sometimes he'll continue to hold onto arm to keep me near him, even it means cutting off the circulation in my arm. "You can come with me." He picked up his head and nodded. Then we went to the kitchen. He held my hand on the way there. I had him sit on the counter, so he'll be able to watch me. I had turned on the kitchen light.

As I was making the tea, Kaneki watched my every move. I could feel his eyes watching me. But I didn't mind. Once the tea was done, I put it in a mug and handed it to him. He was very shaky, so I put my hand under the mug to help steady it. Giving Kaneki tea after a nightmare helps him calm his nerves a little bit. It's not much, but it's better then nothing.

After he got done, I put the mug in the sink. Then I went back to him and put my hand on the counter, next to his hips. He wrapped his arms around my neck and leaned his forehead against mine. I gave him a little peek on the lips, he probably doesn't want a full kiss right now.

"C-could we go sit on the couch? The counter is getting uncomfortable." He said after awhile.

"Yeah, we can." I said before I took his hands and lead him to the couch. I sat down and let him sit on my lap. I got the blanket that was on the couch, and put it on him. He snuggled into me and held onto the blanket. I wrapped my arms around him, in a protective way. I wish I could help him more with his nightmares.

"Hey, could you turn on the TV? So, it's not so silent." He asked.

"Yeah." I said before grabbing the remote and turned on the TV. There was some random show playing. But we didn't care about it.

I held him close to me the rest of the night. And he continued to cuddle close to me. By the time morning came round, we were pasted out, with him in my arms.
