Days after the war: Attention

This is a story I rewriten, but I still have the old parts so, I'm posting them here.

2 days later...

Hide's P.O.V.

I'm not sick anymore, but Kaneki's been keeping an eye on me incase I'm still sick.

Right now, he's laying his stomach and he's on the couch, while reading a book. And he's holding his are legs up, like a girl on the having a conversation on the phone would. He's been doing that for awhile, and I'm feeling a little lonely. Jeez, now I know how he feels when I don't cuddle him in bed. His hair was in its usual ponytail, which I like it when his hair is down because I can bury my face into his soft white hair when it's down. But he likes to put it up so its not in his face all the time. He was wearing shorts and a grey long sleeved shirt. I went to him from behind the couch and started to poke and rub his back to get his attention. But he only flipped to the next page.

"Kaneki, come on take a break from the book. I want to spend time with my fináce." I said while resting my arms on the couch and resting my head on my arms.

"Hang on, Hide. Just let me finish this chapter." More like let me finish the book. I know how he is. He gets so sucked into a book he forgets about everything else. It can be good at times, but right now I want to spend time with him. I let out a pout before going to the kitchen to get a snack. I opened a few cabinets in order to find my chips. But as I was looking through the cabinets, I found Kaneki's brown sugar cubes. The TSC has figured out how to make this too. We need something to calm down a ghoul's hunger. Besides the artificial meat.

I got an idea. I grabbed the jar and set it on the counter. I opened it up and carefully got a sugar cube, so wouldn't brake it. Which is easy if you're not careful. Even though it's not just sugar, it's still breakable. I closed the jar and put it back in the cabinet. Then I went back to Kaneki and I climbed on top of him. He didn't stop me, him being suck into his book and all. I sat on him and began to hold the sugar cube above his head, but out of his reach.

He began to sniff, I know he can't help but love the smell of it. His nose brought him to what he was sniffing. He realized what I was doing, blushed, and went back to his book. I pouted before bringing it closer to his nose. You could tell he was trying to ignore it, but he kept letting his nose sniff.

"If you want this so badly, put the book down and spend time with me." I said before he let out something similar to a whine. Then closed his book and put it on the coffee table. After he did that he looked up at me with pleading eyes. I lowered the sugar cube down enough for him to get it. I took it in his mouth and ate it. His eye actived at the taste of the sugar cube. As he ate the sugar cube, I nuzzled my nose into the back of his neck.

"Did you really have to do all of that, just to get my attention?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes because other wise you'll never get your head out of the book."

He let a sigh before saying, "Alright, come on get off." Then I got off of him like he asked. He had me lay on my back, I was on the other side of the couch. He struggled my lap before laying on top of me. He sort of wrapped his arms around my neck and hid his face in the crook of my neck. I wrapped my arms around him as he nuzzled his nose into my neck. We just stayed there in silence for awhile and I rubbed his back a little.

"Hey when we get married, what are going to do about last names?" I asked after a few minutes. I felt him shrug his shoulders before saying something.

"I don't know really. I would like to keep my last name. But Hideyoshi Kaneki doesn't sound that great."

"We could make your last name your middle name."

"Ken Kaneki Nagachika, I like that better."

"Least now I won't be the only person in this relationship that has a mouth full name." I said before he playfully slapped me on the head. I only laughed at him.

"I can't wait to be married to you." He said with a loving smile.

"I know, I can't either." I said before kissing him on the forehead.

"I wonder how college us would react to us getting married."

"You mean when you had twig arms and no six pack? Wore a eye-patch all the time and was the biggest book nerd ever?" And again I got another playful slap on the head.

"I'm still a book nerd. I just don't read as much as I used too. Because I like to spend my time with you instead."

"Oh, so you admit that you're a book nerd."

"Hey! Least I got better grades then you in school. Mr. I don't like to sit down, study, and do my homework, and I'll do it all at the last minute." He said as he picked his head up and rest his chin on my chest. Before sticking his tongue out at me.

"Okay you got me there. Speaking of school, are we ever going to finish college?"

"I don't think so. I'm happy just the way we are. I don't need a piece of paper saying I'm smart."

"I guess not. When you went missing and didn't come back. I got hurt looking for you and ended up in the hospital. After they released me, I refused to believe that you were dead and looked for every possible thing that could lead me to you."

"I'm glad you didn't give up on me." He said as he put a hand on my cheek. Then he kissed me.

"I'm glad too. Because I got you back and got to tell you my true feelings." I said after we pulled away.

"How much do you love me?" He asked as he laid his head back on my shoulder.

"Why do you want to know?"

"I'm just curious." He said before picking his head up. He leaned his forehead against mine. I put my hands on his upper arms, stared into his beautiful grey eyes, and thought for a few minutes.

"I love you more then words can explain." I said with a smile. He smiled back before kissing me. I kissed back. When he pulled away he laid his head back down on my shoulder and had a loving smile on his face.

I love this man and I would do anything for him.

Because I love him.
