Kaneki's P.O.V.

Hide's alive. That's all I know and care about. I don't know how he's going to react to me. I look completely different from when we were in college.

I was walking to where I was told he was. I was very nervous. I haven't seen him in years and a lot has changed. I took a deep breath and opened the door. As soon as I opened the door, I saw Hide. His hair was short again and he was wearing a cloth to cover his nose and mouth. He smiled, from what I could tell.

"Yo, Kaneki. Haven't seen you in forever. You remember rabbits die from loneliness? I was every lonely." I didn't say anything in response. I just stood there for a couple moments before I started to cry. Then I ran to him and put him a very tight hug, I almost knocked us over. He put his arms around me and rested his chin on my shoulder. I pulled away after few minutes and looked at the cloth.

"Hide, what is this?" I asked, referring to the cloth.

"It's nothing."

"No, it's something. Did...did I do it?" He looked a little sad. I didn't need an answer with the look on his face. "C-can I see it, please? I want to see what I did." I said as I lightly tugged on it. Then he untied the knot in the back. Once the cloth was in fm his face, his lips weren't there anymore. All you saw was a deep red scare, that went all the way down to the base of his neck, and you could see his teeth. I just stared and let some tears ran down my face. And I gently put a hand on his cheek, in order not hurt him. He put a hand on mine.

"I know I'm not as handsome as I once was." He said with a little help from the device that was in his throat. Then I put my lips against his teeth, our best attempt at a kiss.

"No, you're beautiful." I said after I pulled away. He let a few tears down his face as we leaned our foreheads together.
