Days afterthe war: family

A few days later...

Hide's P.O.V.

I woke up, and Kaneki wasn't awake yet. Which isn't common anymore because after we adopted Ichika, he would already be awake so he could take care of her. But I guess he needs to rest. I kissed him on the cheek before getting out of bed. I walked over to Ichika's crib. I looked down at her, she was still asleep. I swear her and Kaneki are on the same schedule. She looked adorable while sleeping. Her cute little nose and her little hands and feet. She was wearing a light blue wonze. Because who said it had to be pink? She had kicked her little blanket off her during the night.

I moved her blanket back over her. And I couldn't help but boop her little nose with my finger. But she woke up because of it. Instead of crying she just looked up at me, smiled, and held her arms out. I smiled warmly at her. Then she grabbed a little star off the mobile that was on the crib and she yanked it off the sting. Apparently ghoul babies are strong, but Ichika is a half ghoul. So, she's even stronger. She put the star in her mouth and tried to eat it. Her doing that scared the crap out of me.

"You can't eat that Ichika!" I said as I took the star from her. But she started to cry. I started to panic before picking her up. I patted her back as I tired to calm her down. "I'm sorry, but papa would be angry if you ate that." I explained to her. But she didn't understand me and she kept crying. I looked behind me with a 'help me' look at Kaneki. But he was still asleep. His back was turned to me and he was covered up by the blanket. I guess I had to figure this out myself.

I continued to pat Ichika's back, bounce her, and hum a little song. I was about to walk out of the bedroom, so I could walk her around the living room, when she stopped crying. She looked up at me with a curious look. I was confused, but also relieved. Then she reached up, grabbed, and pulled on my hair. My hair was getting long again, I'll have to cut it soon.

"Ichika!" I said as she continued to tug on my hair. I was going to stop her, but the realized she would probably cry again if I stopped her. So, I just let her pull on my hair, least she wasn't crying. Then I heard a chuckle behind me. I looked behind me as Kaneki walked to me. He wrapped his arms around me and Ichika and rested his chin on my shoulder.

"Kaneki, why didn't you help me if you were awake?" I asked.

"Because you seemed to have it handled. And it was cute." He said before kissing me on the cheek. I scoffed as Ichika stopped pulling on my hair and reached her arms out for Kaneki. He held her little hand with his fingers and kissed her on the head. "Can I hold her now?"

"Yeah." I said before Kaneki let go of me. I turned around and handed him Ichika. He took her in his arms and held her close.

"You can go take a shower." He said.

"Alright." I said before kissing him on the lips. I got a pair of clean clothes and went to the bathroom. I closed the door behind me and took off my pajamas. Then I turned on the water and stepped in. Once I was done, I stepped out and dried off before changing into the clean cloths. I walked out of the bathroom and walked back to our bedroom so I could put my pajamas in the dirty clothes hamper.

When I walked into our bedroom, I saw Kaneki feeding Ichika her milk bottle. I smiled at them as I put my pajamas in the hamper. Kaneki was already dressed in a button up shirt, black jeans, and a grey sweater. His hair was in a ponytail too. I sat next to Kaneki on our bed and watched Ichika eat. After a few minutes she was done.

"Do you want to burp her?" Kaneki asked.

"Yes, please." I said before he handed her to me. I set her on my thigh and had her wash cloth on my hand where I was holding her chest. I started to pat her back. But after a few minutes she didn't burp.

"Why are you holding onto it? Is it keeping you warm?" I teased.

"Try bouncing her on your leg, see if that helps." Kaneki suggested. I put my foot on the floor and started to bounce her. After a few more minutes, she finally let out something similar to a burp.

"There we go!" I happily said before wiping her mouth. And I handed her back to Kaneki. He set her on the bed, she was laying on her back, in front of him.

"Could you get me a change of clothes for her, please?" Kaneki asked as Ichika stared up at the ceiling fan as it was spinning around. She seemed to be amazed by it spinning in circles.

"Sure." I said before getting up and going to a drawer. I opened it up and got a little shirt and a pair of small sorts for her. It's summer, so she's going to need something to show her little arms and legs, so that she doesn't over heat. I went back to the bed and handed Kaneki, Ichika's clothes as I sat on the bed again. He took them before taking Ichika's wonze off, and getting her in the clothes I gave him. He picked her up and pulled his knees together. Before setting her on his thighs. He played with her by moving her little hands in different directions, while being very gentle. She just watched him do this. And I thought it was cute.

Time skip~~

"I'm going to the grocery store! Need me to get anything?" I asked. It's afternoon now. Kaneki was sitting on the couch while reading a book. Ichika was against his chest. He did have a hand on her back.

"Could you get more diapers and her milk? We need more of those in the future." He said.

"Yep." I said as I put my jacket on. Then I walked out the door. I got myself food, Ichika's dippers and milk before going back home. I walked in and left my shoes by the door. I went to the kitchen and put the stuff up. I saw Kaneki was still on the couch and reading a book. But he was laying on the couch now. Ichika was laying across his chest and stomach, and was asleep. Kaneki still had his hand on her back.

I walked over to them and put my hands on the arm of the couch. Kaneki looked up at me.

"Welcome back." He said before I leaned down to kiss him.

"Ichika fell asleep?" I asked after I pulled away.

"Yeah, she did."

"Do you want me to set her in her crib to take a nap?"

"Yeah, I'm tired. I think I'll take a nap too."

"Alright." I said before Kaneki set his book on the coffee table, so I could pick Ichika up. I carefully picked her up in order to not wake her up. She made a little noise when I held her against my chest, but continued to sleep. Kaneki got off the couch and walked to the bedroom with me. I set Ichika in her crib and covered her with the blanket. And kissed her on the head. Kaneki laid down in our bed and snuggled into the blanket. I took my jacket off and set it on the floor before laying in bed with him. I wrapped my arms around him and he snuggled in my chest.

"I love you." I said before kissing him on the head.

"I love you too." He said in tired voice before falling asleep. I smiled before I fell asleep too.
