Days after the war: a baby

About two and a half years later...

Hide's P.O.V.

I woke up with the sun in my eyes and someone was laying on top of me. I looked at Kaneki who was hiding their face in the crook of my neck and his hair was a bit of a mess. I sighed and kissed him on the head. We had gotten married two years ago, he was smiling our whole wedding day, I swear he was glowing. After our honeymoon, we came back to our house and lived peacefully. But with the TSC sending me places to help with ghoul problems every now and then.

Kaneki mumbled something in his sleep before nuzzling his nose into my neck. I smiled and rubbed his back. When he did finally wake up, he groaned and raised his head.

"Morning." He said before yawning.

"Morning husband of mine." I said with a smile.

"It's been two years and you still say that?"

"Yes because I still like the idea of us being married. Don't you?"

"I do."

"We should get up and make breakfast."

"I know."

"Can I have a kiss?" He hummed in response before leaning down to kiss me. I kissed back as I put a hand in his soft hair. After he pulled away, he got off me and sat on the edge of the bed before sitting up. I was already sitting on the edge of the bed when I wrapped my arms around his waist, and pulled him down to sit on my lap. He was surprised by this but calmed down. I rested my chin on his shoulder.

"I thought we were going to make breakfast." He said in a teasing tone.

"We are, I just like to hug on you."

"Okay, but I really want coffee right now. So, can you please let me go?"

"Yeah, since you asked nicely." I said before letting him go. He stood back up and walked out of the bedroom. Then I walked out of our bedroom and into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and washed my face before walking out to go to the kitchen. Kaneki had already made a pot of coffee and made himself a cup. He was taking a sip when I wrapped my arms around his waist again. I also planted a few kisses on his neck before resting my head on his shoulder again. He set his mug on the counter.

"Hide?" He said.

"Yes?"

"Do you remember our deal?" I thought for a few minutes before I remembered.

"Yes, I do. You still want a baby?"

"Yes. You did promise after two years of being married we would adopt a baby. I'm just reminding you of that."

"I know. Are you sure you want to be a parent?"

"Hide, I've been sure for the past two years. Are you having second thoughts, or not wanting a child?"

"No, I'm not. I thought of being a dad from time to time."

"So, you're really wanting us to be parents?" He asked as he looked over his shoulder at me with a smile.

"Yes." I said before he turned around and kissed me. We smiled in the kiss.

Time skip~~ about a month or two~~

Well, we finally have a baby. We already got the baby stuff for her. Yeah, that's right. We got a baby girl. As soon as Kaneki laid eyes on her, he fell in love. She's only a three weeks old, so an almost new born. She had black hair on the top of her head and the rest was white. She has opened her eyes a few times and they were grey. Well, her right eye was red. She is a half ghoul like Kaneki. She had a ghoul mother and human father, but she was unplanned. Basically a nice way of saying she was an accident. But she wasn't to me and Kaneki, in fact she was perfect. Her name is Ichika.

Today was the day we brought her home. We were sitting on the couch and Kaneki was holding her in his arms. She started to squirm a little.

"You gonna open your eyes for us?" I cooed as I rubbed her cheek with my finger. "Come on, you can do it." I said before she opened her eyes. She looked right at Kaneki and smiled as both her grey and red eyes looked joyful. She also held her little arms out towards him as she smiled. Kaneki smiled as a few tears of joy ran down his face. He kissed her gently on her head. And when he pulled away she grabbed his nose with her little hands. We chuckled at her.

She did let him go and Kaneki held her closer to him. Her head was resting on his shoulder as well as one of her hands. I wrapped my arms around the both of them and kissed Ichika on the side of her face. I kissed Kaneki on his head before resting my cheek against him. And put a hand on Ichika's back.

"You really love her, don't you?" I asked. Kaneki hummed in response. "It's getting late, we should go to bed."

"Okay."

"But can I hold her?" He nodded before handing me Ichika. I went to our bedroom and set Ichika in her crib, so I could get in pajamas, which was a t-shirt and sweat pants. But I stayed close to her crib so I could keep an eye on her. She only curiosity looked around the room. Kaneki came into our room from the bathroom, he had brush his teeth. He got into a t-shirt and shorts, and kept his ponytail up.

Kaneki picked Ichika back up before laying down in bed. He laid on his back and had Ichika lay on his chest and stomach. Kaneki put his hands on her back to keep her in that spot. I laid on my side of the bed and put my arm around them. And I rested my head on Kaneki's shoulder.

"Hide, I'm so happy that have a baby." Kaneki said after a few minutes.

"I can tell, I'm happy too. We should get some rest because someone might wake us up at three in the morning. Because they're hungry."

"Alright. Love you."

"I love you too." I said before he fell asleep after awhile. I stayed awake after a little longer. Just to stare at them. Kaneki looked handsome as always, maybe even more with the moon light reflecting off of him. Ichika just looked adorable, as she was drooling onto Kaneki's shirt.
