Days after the war: sick morning

Hide's P.O.V.

I woke up to Kaneki shaking my shoulder. I groaned and opened my eyes to look at him. He was still laying his head on my other shoulder. His eyebrows were furrowed too.

"Hey..." I said before he opened his eyes to look at me.

"Could you please go check on Ichika? I don't feel so good."

"Yeah, are you okay though?"

"I have headache and my stomach hurts."

"When was the last time you ate? It could just be your body saying it needs food."

"Two days ago, when we were about to get ready for bed after getting Ichika to sleep."

"Okay, it might be a bug then."

"Could you please go check on her now, please?"

"I will." I said before sitting up. I gave Kaneki a kiss on the cheek before climbing over him. And he snuggled the blanket. I walked out of our bedroom and into Ichika's room. She has gotten her own room because how old she is now. She's about 5 months now. When I walked into Ichika's room, I walked over to her crib, she was still asleep. I started to gently rub her little arm. She moved a little in her sleep and let out a little noise. I continued to gently rub her arm as she blossomed awake. She opened her eyes and looked up at me.

"Morning, baby girl." I said as she grabbed my finger with her hand. Then I put my hands under her arms and picked her up. I set her against my chest, her head was resting on my shoulder. She was holding onto my t-shirt with her little hands. I had a arm under her and my other hand was on her back.

"Papa is sick, so I'll be taking care of you today." I said. She didn't understand me as she was falling asleep again. I sighed before grabbing her blanket out of her crib and going to the living room. I sat on the couch with Ichika snuggled into my chest. I put the blanket around her, so she wouldn't get cold. I kissed her on the head as I started to rub her back. I just sat there on the couch with Ichika sleeping on me for awhile.

Time skip~~

It's afternoon now and I was in the kitchen, while holding Ichika. She was crying. I tried getting her to eat her bottle, well more like drink it but still. But she wouldn't accept it. I tried giving her pacifier to her, but she would spit it out every time I gave it to her. I even tried letting her suck on my finger, because with her being half ghoul she might like the taste, again she didn't want it. I was now walking her around the kitchen and patting her back.

"Come on Ichika, what is it? I promised papa I would take care of you so he could rest." I said. As soon as I said papa she stopped crying and looked at me. I was confused and relieved. But she started crying again.

"You want to see papa? But he doesn't want to catch what he has. You're not giving me another choice are you?" I said as she continued to cry. I sighed before walking over to mine and Kaneki's bedroom. I opened the door but didn't go pass the door frame. Kaneki was still sleeping in bed and his lower half was covered by the blanket. I rubbed Ichika's cheek with my finger to get her attention.

"Look there's papa!" I said as I pointed to Kaneki. Ichika stopped crying to look the direction I pointed in. She smiled and reached her little arms out. I wiped away a few tears that were down her face. "You can't go over to him, you might get sick."

"...Hide...?" I heard Kaneki say as he moved to face me. He opened his eyes and looked at me and Ichika. "What are doing in here? I told you I don't want her to get sick."

"I know, but she wouldn't stop throwing a tantrum until she got to see you. I can go away now that she stopped."

"No, you can come over here." He said before I walked over to him. He rolled onto his stomach.

"Set her on my back. If I don't breathe on her, she might be okay."

"Alright." I said before carefully setting Ichika on Kaneki's back. She started to giggle as she got ahold of Kaneki's hair. "Can I get dressed? I haven't changed out of my pajamas because I was taking care of her."

"Yeah, that's okay." He replied before I went to the dressers. I got a long sleeved shirt and jeans. As I was changing into the cloths, I kept an eye on Ichika. Because Kaneki was pretty much half awake and couldn't see behind his head. Once I did get changed, I walked back over to Kaneki and kneeled beside our bed.

"How are you feeling now?" I asked as I rubbed his lower back because Ichika was on his upper back.

"My headache has gotten better, but my stomach still freaking hurts. And I'm just really tired now."

"Do you want me to take Ichika off your back, so you could sleep more?"

"No, she can stay."

"Okay, but I'm going to get in bed too." He let out a little hum before I stood up and sat on the other side of the bed. I was sitting against the wall.

"I love you." I said as I played with his hair a little bit.

"I love you too." He said in tired voice. As time went by I just watched them. Kaneki was already asleep and Ichika fell asleep after awhile too. I thought it was adorable and took a picture with my phone. I also set it was my wallpaper. So, every time I turned my phone on I got to see my husband and daughter being cute together.
