A/N this is a poem based off the lyrics of The Green Fields of France. It's not my usual style again, but I hope it pleases you!

Well, how do you do young Lucy, my dear.
Do you mind if I sit here down by your graveside?
And rest for a while 'neath the warm summer sun;
I've been fighting all day and I'm nearly done.
I see by your gravestone the flowers you loved.
When you had that great fall — the one that I made.
Well I wish you lived long and you were with me.
Or Lucy my wife, that it could have been me

And they beat the drum slowly,
And they played the fife lowly.
They sounded the death march as they lowered you down.
And the band played the last post and chorus —
So the pipes played the flowers of the forest.

Why did you leave me and Nashi behind?
In my faithful heart, your memory's enshrined.
And though you died back in those mountains tall,
In my faithful heart you're forever with me.
Yet you're a stranger with barely a name
Enclosed forever behind a glass pane.
In an old photograph torn, battered and stained
And faded to yellow in our son's — Nashi's — mind.

And they beat the drum slowly,
And they played the fife lowly.
They sounded the death march as they lowered you down.
And the band played the last post and chorus —
So the pipes played the flowers of the forest.

Now, Lucy my dear, I can't help wonder why
Do those who know you know how you died
Did they believe when I answered questions?
Did they really believe that I could make that mistake?
But the sorrow, the suffering, the sadness, the pain,
The killing and the dying were all done by me.
But for Lucy, my wife, it all happened so fast.
And again and again and again, I feel you pass.

And they beat the drum slowly,
And they played the fife lowly.
They sounded the death march as they lowered you down.
And the band played the last post and chorus —
So the pipes played the flowers of the forest.
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest?
