Dinner was fabulous, I couldn't say anymore about it.

Gavin had seasoned the chicken with garlic and gave a side of mashed potatoes and green beans. For drinks: root beer floats. It was the best dinner I've had in long time.

After dinner, which was around 5:30, Gavin insisted we go out for ice cream. With much persistence, I finally agreed to go with them.

"We can go to Scoops, here in town." I told them as we all huddled into Gavin's car. Lucas sat in the back with me. Gavin started the car and drove out of the driveway.

"Where is it?" He asked as we pulled out of the neighborhood development.

"It's near the park here." I directed him a couple of turns and soon, we arrived. Gavin parked the car and we all got out.

The park was filled with late runners and dog walkers. A guitarist was performing with a small crowd of teenagers.

I lead then to Scoops, a little stand in the middle of the park. A young women in her mid twenties, served the stand handing out a cone to a little one before they run off to there family. I laughed quietly, watching the little boy run back to his parents and show them his icey treat before plunging his mouth into it. The parents laughed before wiping his mouth covered in chocolate ice cream.

Lucas put a hand on my shoulder, getting me back to reality. His father seem to give me the same face that said, I know you don't have that, but we are here for you.

My life was practically a lie.

As we got up to the young women, she smiled her blonde hair tucked behind her ears and with a high ponytail. She had mascara on her eyes. She might have been fresh out of college.

"What can I get you all?" She asked.

I looked to Gavin and Lucas who both smiled at me childishly. "Ladies first." Lucas invited, his hands gesturing me up to the women.

I felt a blush creep into my cheeks as I stepped up to tell her what I wanted. "I'll have...." I thought for a moment. My eyes scanned the list of ice creams flavors to sundaes. "I will have a two scoop birthday cake in a sugar cone." I grin as Lucas makes his way up.

"I will have cookies and cream in a regular cone, two scoops as well." He smiles, standing back to me.

Gavin pulls out his wallet before ordering. "Ill have a waffle dish with Rocky road. Hot fudge and a cherry please." She smiled before running her hands along the buttons of the register.

"That will be 15.01."

He handed her the exact amount before getting our orders. And in truth, we didn't have to wait long. I got mine first, them Lucas and last, Gavin.

"Ill leave you too to have some alone time....Just tell me when you want to go home. It's almost 6."

I smield at Gavin, feeling as if he was a second father to me, only knowing him for a little while. "Sounds good. Thank you." he smiles before grabbing a spoon, forking away at his ice cream.

While licking his ice cream, Lucas takes my hand as we walk to a secluded bench under a tree. He sits opposite to me as we began to go at our ice creams. I couldn't feel more happier.

"So, how's your ice cream?" Lucas asked, already getting down to his first scoop.

I grin, biting into the sugar cone. "Amazing. Birthday cake is full of pound cake, sprinkles, blue icing and vanilla!" I told him licking the scoop again.

He giggled. "Sounds like you."

"Colorful?"

He blushes, and I could see his rosy cheeks under the newly turned streetlight. It was getting darker out. "Different and unique." He smiled, taking my hand. I stretch my out to meet his.
