When I opened the door to the house, Dr. Kevin was sitting on the couch. He was reading a book, very interested in before looking up to me. He was in a robe, covering his blue pjs.
"Hello, Ellie." He greeted me as he set the book down face up. The cover was: Doctor Techniques for a life saving doctor. I rolled my eyes.
"Dr. Kevin." I skipped the hello part and started upstairs when he stopped me.
"Why do you have Layla's diary?" He asked, his hand gripping it less.
My blood froze as I turned around, looking into the devils eyes. "Did you snoop around in my room?"
As if annoyed, he pulled out the diary waking to the fireplace which had no fire in it. "That's not a question for me to answer. " he chimed, flipping the diary pages, quickly.
"What do you want?!" I shouted, wanting to punch him.
He laughed, cackling at the book in his hands. "Dear diary, sorry I haven't wrote in you for awhile but everything has just suddenly changed. You see, Noah asked me to marry him and Miranda got pregnant from James. (Secretly, I think she still likes Kevin." He cleared his throat. "With my intelligence, I will still be a demon hunter while be married to Noah who agrees. But, I'm pregnant too. Noah and I kinda went ahead.... " he paused, flipping the page. "It's time like this where friends love each other where we won't be forgotten. I will not forget but I found the love of my life. Forever written in your pages, Layla Winchester. " he finished, tossing the book aside into the wood fireplace.
"No!" I ran, dragging my black dress along to the fireplace before fire exploded from the diary. The warmth didn't comfort me, but made fear seem into my bones. "You destroyed it!" The fire died down with the book left with ashes. I touched them as if they were gold coins.
"Don't let other people fool you." He spoke highly, as his feel echoed across the kitchen floor. "The only fool your fooling is yourself." He clapped his hands together, looking back at me from a distance as I held the ashes in my sweaty hands which turned them a faint black on my palm. "The Darkness picked the right host, my dear." He shrugged as he went out of the kitchen and up the stairs.
Tears fell out and onto the pile of ashes from the diary I just had. There was no answer to why he was snooping around in my room or acting like a 'father' tonight. Wet tears mixed into the ash as my trembling body got up and found a plastic bag.
With shaking hands, I filled the bag with the diaries ashes and ventured my way upstairs turning off the lights as I went. I placed the bag of ashes on my dresser hearing nothing from Sam's room next to mine.
Sam slept soundly as I passed by her room as well as mom. I just knew that Dr. Kevin was spending the night. A shudder ran through my body as I peeled off the mysterious dress before hanging it up. I grabbed clean pjs before making my way to the shower, hoping the warm water would wash away everything bad tonight.
As I stood in the shower, the black tattoos cascaded around my body: Around my chest and stomach plus both arms. Glancing down at myself, The Darkness hadn't spread to my entire body because it wasn't touching my legs or thighs at all. Yet, I thought in my head as I cleaned myself of the sweat that soaked my body through the entire night.
When I got out a few minutes later, The fogged up mirror exposed my eyes. A blackness that contrasted with the light above that went perfect with the wrapping tattoos that melded with my body.
I gasped, hugging the towel closer to me as my hands slowly touch my eyes. I was in horror, confused on why it had came back. I forced myself to look down as I got my shirt on and my pjs on. Once I had my clothes on, the tattoos released me and my eyes went back to normal.
