Lucas stayed where he was as Sam entered the room. It was only naturally that she went first, considering all of these secrets floating around her 24/7. It killed me not to tell her, but that could put her life in danger. And if she died because of me, I couldn't live with that grief.

"Are you ok?" She came up to me, and hugged me because Lucas was holding me up. The poison made me weak and almost unmovable, but as I started to wake up and gather all my surroundings, I had regathered my strength back. Plus, Dr. Kevin wasn't even here.

Score!

"I'm alright. My head just hurts alittle." I backed up with the lie with touching my head gingerly. Lucas had his hand on my waist, making sure I was still. "It was after Lucas left in the morning, I had woken up feeling strange, I thought breakfast would help. "

"You were so cheerful and happy though. I thought you were feeling fine."

I sighed. "When I went back upstairs, I wanted to sneak out and see Lucas again, so opened the window. I didn't realize how awful I felt but I slipped. I barely grasped the windowsill before I dropped on the ground, my head hitting the side of the house as I went down."

Lucas then spoke, finishing the lie smoothly. "I found her laying there and I brought her here. My dad was a doctor along time ago, so he treated her."

She frowned and looked closely at my head. "Why don't you have any bandages around your head?"

"My dad took them off while she was unconscious. He treated them."

She took the lie and went with it, nodding as she sat down on the chair besides Lucas and I. "I'm so glad your ok, L. You scared me. I would've had to deal with Ethan and Collin for the rest of my life!" She squeezed my hand as she brought out a little gift. "This is a little two month pre-gift." she told me as she handed it to me.

It was a tradition in our group that we gave each other two months before gifts. This was a way of foreshadowing our gifts at our party. I remembered that last year, Ethan gave me vampire teeth because he wanted me to be Dracula for Halloween. I drank cheery juice as blood that night.

That was before all of this secrets appeared but it was before Lucas. And yet, I couldn't imagine myself now without him. It was crazy.

I unknotted the bow that wrapped the small blue wrapping paper around it. My nails dug into the paper as I opened it with a little gift box. Sam grinned as I opened it, discovering it was a BFF bracelet.

"Happy two month before birthday!" She giggled as she help me clasp it on my wrist. I had realize I was very pale by my skin tone as she put the bracelet on my wrist. It had black knot thhreads that ad a gold plated sign on the front that said, Best Friend engraved in it. I put it on my other wrist, because I didn't want it to come off at all.

"Awww, thank you Sam!" I hugged her back as mom walked into the room. I knew she wanted to talk to me privately, just by the look on her face.

Lucas slowly laid me back down on the bed, my head resting on the pillow as mom approached me. Lucas, Sam and Gavin left the room. "How are you doing, Ellie?" She asked, her voice sounded ashamed as she sat on the chair where Sam was.

I shrugged. "Ok, I guess. " Her hand wondered up to my bandaged upper arm where Gavin stucked the poison out with another needle, then to down to my inner elbow where the I.V. was in.

"Gavin told me everything...About the demons and you being the Chosen One and what happened a few nights ago." she sighed, looking down at the golden bracelet. "I'm sorry I haven't been there for you lately. In truth, I wanted to forgot the past. I used to be a demon hunter with Sam's mom, Layla and I just couldn't go back there. It was too painful." She told me honestly.
