For the rest of September, Derrick wouldn't leave me alone or Lucas. He was near us every moment of the day and intruded my lunch with Lucas.

Things couldn't get any worst until, I had to buddy up with him for Dr. Kevin's health projects. Lucas, on the other hand was furious as he got Sam. It was a boy girl project and it was about researching the worst foods for you. We had to create a diagram and present it to the class of the five worst foods that we chose.

It was torture.

We picked chocolate, milkshakes, hamburgers, fries and cookies.Dr. Kevin failed us because apparently it was too informational for the class and was not colorful at all.

After that, I ignored Derrick; Lucas following behind me. He agreed that this was ridiculously and that he should leave us alone.

Soon, September flew by; leaving me stunned by the time Dr. Kevin spent to torture me every health class. When October 1st came, my birthday was practically around the corner. It would thirty days were the magic number when I turned seventeen and on Halloween.

It was the week of cool weather and Autumn days, but nothing would stop me from remembering my birthday.

Lucas one told me that he felt when I was born. Literally! I couldn't understand why I had created such a huge wave of demons to come after me nor did I expect the feelings that came from Derrick. He was as stubborn as a yak. No pun intended.

The first week of October was surprisingly great. For once in my life, there was no attacks or struggles for my life. Lucas was to thank for that. Everyday after school, he had to go on assessment from the Inferno; leaving me be.

It surprised me that he could handle that stress of protecting me while still be handle school work and such. For him, fighting Demons came natural but school not so much. He disliked Health with a burning passion. Of course, that's Dr. Kevin's fault.

Even when he was out home, he got to torture me every second of it. He questioned my routine and behaviours. And to make it worse, he kisses mom in front of me.

Dr. Kevin doesn't know when to stop!

**********

I woke up early on Monday morning, tired for going to sleep around twelve. Lucas had talked to me all night about a new upcoming threat.

Apparently, it would stop at nothing to get me; as he put it. That just made my life more complicated, wanting to just discover an easier lifestyle, something where everyday I didn't have to worry about dying.

I got up and changed from pjs to clothes, watching rain pour down outside. The window outside was blurred by the pounding rain and the sky was truly dark. I frowned as I grabbed my jacket.

When I went downstairs, Dr. Kevin was sitting at the table calmly and collectively eyeing me as I came closer to the kitchen area. What a stalker he was and for being involved in my family.  He grinned once I entered the kitchen, fully dressed and went to the coffee pot.

"Good morning Ellie. Sleep well?" He inquired, looking up to me with a smile ear to ear on his face.

My heart skipped a beat as I poured myself some fresh coffee in my mug before responding to him. "Perfect." I stated, searching for sugar in the cabinets above the sinks.

"Thats great! A new almost daughter of mine had a wonderful night sleep!" He dictated, laughing causally at himself.

I ignored his actions and his face finally getting the sugar container.

"Aren't you going to ask me how the hospital is?" He quizzed, crossing his legs eyeing me intently.

I turned around after dumping two spoonfuls of sugar into the black coffee. "Why?" I mumbled.
