As they pulled up Ryan's police cruiser was parked in the driveway. "Your dad's home early Yugi."

Yugi opens his eyes happily. "That's great. He's usually home at midnight." Yugi said to Yami. Yami nods as he smiles. 'We are definitely keeping his parents alive. They are important to Yugi.' Dark Yami sighs and nods. 'Fine but if needed we should erase their memories of us killing if they see it.'

Yami sighs and nods as he follows Yugi and Kathleen. Yugi opens the door and smiles. "Dad! We're home!" He called. Kathleen smells smoke as she rolls her eyes. "Ryan don't tell my you tried making dinner again." She groans as she walks in to see the kitchen a mess and Ryan covered in flour giving her a sheepish grin as Yami and Yugi laugh.

Ryan gives his wife a sheepish look. "I almost had it....oh crap the sauce!"
Yami turns to the stove and shuts it off before the sauce explodes. Ryan looks confused when he sees Yami. "Oh hello Dear. Yugi who's this? And nice to meet you I'm Ryan Motou."

"This is Yami. He's new to the school." Yugi said. Yami smirks and greets Yugi's dad with a "Yo" before he looks into the pot. "Um sir what did you put in this.....?" Yugi snickers and walks up to Yami. "My dad can't cook to save his life." Yugi said.

Ryan chuckles. "Hey I can make soup and frozen waffles." Yami looks at Ryan then shakes his head as he looks back at the sauce. Ryan gives slightly hurt look before sighing. "You can just throw it away." Yami silently grabs a spoon and taste the sauce before wincing then a thoughtful look come to his face.

"We can still save it." He said as he smiled. It just needs some garlic, a little oregano, maybe a hint of lime, some salt, pepper, and a dash of rosemary." He said as he looks through the cabinets and gathers the ingredients as he mixed them in then tasted the sauce again as he nods.

Yugi smiles and watches Yami work. Ryan walks over and Yami let's him taste it as Ryan's eyes widened. "Damn that taste good. Honey I think we should keep him."

Yugi laughs and looks at Yami with a smile. "They like you. Isn't that great?"

Kathleen chuckles at her husband. "Now honey we can't keep Yami after all what would his parents say?" Yami looks down silently before answering for Ryan. "They're gone. It's just me and my cousin now. We live with our uncle but he's always away with work."

Yugi grabs Yami's hand and gives it a small squeeze. Ryan and Kathleen share a look as they gently rest a hand on Yami's shoulder which shocks him but he doesn't pull away like he did before. Ryan gives a smile. "You can stay with us anytime you want. You're already family in our book if you can stand my cooking."

Yami smiles as his dark side does too. 'Okay yeah we're definitely keeping them alive I like them already.'

"Well we're going to go upstairs and do some math homework and Yami has to practice his lines." Yugi said

Ryan looks at Yami curiously before looking at his son. "Lines? For what?"
Yami shrugs. "Just a play." Yami let's Yugi lead him up the stairs as Kathleen calls. "Would you like to stay for dinner?" Ryan follows with. "Would you like to stay forever?"

Yami and Yugi laugh as they make upstairs and Yami sees a photo of Yugi and an older man and stops. "Who's this?" Yugi looks at Yami then the picture. "That my grandpa. He passed away about two years ago." Yugi said softly.

Yami gently goes to his knees as he pays respect to Yugi's grandpa. "I'm sorry I never got to meet you but you would be proud of what Yugi has become." Yugi smiles softly and giggles. "Thanks Yami. Come on. I want you to see my room."

Yami nods as he bows respectfully to Yugi's grandpa's memorial as he lightly stands up. "Well you paid respects to my little brother, I felt it was only fair to do the same for your grandfather." Yami said softly as they go to Yugi's room.

"Yami I knew your brother. You don't grandpa." Yugi giggles before opening his door to his room. "Still he's important to you and that makes him important to me." Yami stands outside the doorway as Yugi goes in his room.

"Welcome to my game land." Yugi said with a proud smile. Yami chuckles as he looks around. "This is amazing. You have all the best games." He walked over and smiled when he saw the duel monster cards. "I have a few myself but I have never played before."

"Well maybe I can help you later but for now we need to get homework done." Yugi said as he st on his bed. Yami nods as he sat at Yugi's desk the only other place to sit besides the bed and the floor. The two start their homework. Yami finished in about 15 minutes while Yugi seemed to struggle with one problem. Yugi pouts before getting up.

"I'll be right back." Yugi said and walked up to his door. Yami silently walks behind him as Yugi backs up and bumps into him. "Sorry I just needed to use the bathroom." Yugi nods and opens the door. "It's the first door by the stairs." Yugi said before walking to the living room.

Yami heads to the bathroom as Yugi goes down stairs and sees a note from his parents. Went to get take out since we have guests. will be back in half an hour. Love Mom and Dad. Yugi pouts and sighs. He places the note down before getting a cup of milk.
